Staying at WL - bus or Lyft

Hi - for those who have stayed onsite, do you rely mostly on buses or Lyft to get to parks by rope drop? We’re staying at WL and going to Epcot, MK and AK—one park per day.

Just a word of caution when decding how to get to MK. Disney transportation will take you to the MK gate, whereas Uber or Lyft I believe drop you off at the TTC, so you would need to take the monorail or boat over to MK from there, which can be quite time consuming.

So Lyft/Minnie Van be better for Epcot and AK?

We always drive to WDW since we are in SC. WL is a wonderful resort, but the bus service is not the best. Frankly, we usually drive to the parks if we really need to be there early (except for MK, as pointed out above, the boat is a very good option). Therefore, if you have flown in, Lyft might be the best way to assure you are there early

Minnie Vans are the only ride share that take you to the MK park entrance, not the TTC. That said, there is no need for it as the buses or boats will get you there in plenty of time for rope drop

We've never used anything except the onsite transportation to get between any park or resort at WDW. (We have used rideshares when traveling from one resort to another, however, since there's no way for Disney to get you there directly.) Whether it was at a deluxe (WL included), a moderate, or the campground, we've rarely needed to wait more than 10-15 minutes for any bus/boat/monorail, and the number of times we've waited longer can be counted on one hand.

Granted, I have a long commute to work and drive my kids all over the place in my real life -- I enjoy getting to sit back and let someone else do the work of driving, navigating, fueling up, and dropping me off (with no need to hunt for a parking space or take a tram to a park entrance) while on vacation. The fact that they're doing it for me for free (or at least, for a cost that was already rolled into my ticket price) is a nice bonus. :)

We usually stay at Wilderness Lodge and the Disney transportation is fine, I do prefer taking the boat to MK, the only issue we ever have is early morning breakfast at Epcot, for some reason 3 of every other parks buses show up to one Epcot, one time two HS buses showed up at once while we were waiting for Epcot so the second HS bus driver just took us to Epcot. One way we got around the Epcot bus problem was to just take the MK bus and when it stops to pick up at the GF get off and go get on the monorail.

It's been some time since we stayed at WL, but we had a number of longer bus waits and boat service sometimes suspended due to weather. Our biggest issue was a long wait for an MK bus on a day with an early morning breakfast...i.e. before the MK boat is running. In hindsight, we should have taken the early boat to the Contemporary and walked over. Still, I will always try the included Disney transportation before paying extra for Lyft or Minnie Van. I just like keeping those things handy as backup plans.
