Star Wars Spectacular Dessert Party worth it?

Elated that they finally extended the dates for the Star Wars Spectacular to include my trip dates. Now the question is, is the dessert party worth the extra money-I know it isn't for the desserts, but as far as the difference in the viewing area-any feedback for those that have done it!? Thanks!

The viewing area is good it is (or was when I went in June) in front of one of the projection towers. So if you are close to the right edge of the viewing area you will have the best view. We arrived a little late to the party and ended up more to the left so we didn't see as much of the left projections but we still enjoyed the show as we had a great view of the center and right projections.

It was nice not having to fight crowds to get a decent spot as we did two other nights. The desserts were good, and offered both savory and sweet. There were a lot of options. I would do this dessert party again. I just wish there were some chairs to sit on.

I found the viewing location pretty awesome. The desserts and food options are actually pretty good. I like the fact that they had non dessert options this last summer with cherry tomatoes and cheese (light saber). One with olives and a couple of other appetizer options.

There's no place to sit down? Is it just high top chair less tables, or is there a place for children to set their drink/food item down? I am HOPING that this gets extended into December, but my son is 6, so your post kind of worries me.

When I went in June there were no seats and the food was all served in the viewing area. There were high top tables and a few low tops in the front of the area for people in wheelchairs and small children. I have read that they have moved the actual dessert party into the Launch Bay area, so there may be some seating in there but my guess is that there is not. I remember that there were benches in the Launch Bay area when we went there, because as hubby looked at displays I sat and enjoyed the AC!

And as far as I know there is still no seating in the fireworks viewing area, which makes sense because if they wouldn't bring out chairs when people were eating out there they probably wouldn't haul them out for just viewing. Hopefully someone who has experienced it in the Launch Bay can chime in.

Ok thank you. That's kind of odd. At least for the eating/drinking part. I understand standing during the actual viewing, but would be nice for kids to have a place to eat and set a drink that is semi level with their height, while remaining with their parent/s...I won't send my kid to the kiddie table while I remain at a high top. Oh well, it's still worth it...so we'll still be attending..if it ever gets announced!

The seating thing was my only compliant about the dessert party, this is the reason why I've never done the Illuminations ones is because there were tables but no seats. But my husband is a major Star Wars fan so I thought it would be a nice treat for his birthday, and it was nice. I guess I didn't pay attention to what people did with their kids and their desserts, but that is a valid concern I hadn't thought about. I wouldn't want my kid to go to a smaller table if I couldn't be with them.

If you are able to go report back about the new set up.

I've never done a desert party mainly because I think they take up too much park time, but I never really thought about the seating, or lack there of, before reading that post. The Star Wars one in a must do with my Star Wars obsessed kid though!

Will there be any obstructions with his ability to view the projections?

When I went we were at high tables inside the Disney Junior Live Show building. There are no chairs. We were escorted out about 15 minutes before the show to the viewing area.

Was there many kids there?
Yes, quite a few kids. There was a coloring table for kids. There was a mixture of short and tall tables. I think those with smaller children used the shorter tables but there were still no chairs. Some kids sat on the floor with their food. The room itself wasn't overly crowded, there was ample room to get around.

Went a couple weeks ago... It was held in the Launch bay, a bit crowded, but the food was decent. There were a few seats scattered about, but no official seating. And it seems like there weren't quite enough tables... But we did meet Chewbacca and Kylo Ren with about a 5 minute wait each.

The viewing area was way too crowded. And I had a [sarcasm] awesome gentleman[/sarcasm] holding his phone up in front of my face to take pictures of the fireworks.

Otherwise, it was fun.

Chewbacca and Kylo Ren are at the dessert party?
