Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Let’s not forget the downtime Escape From Gringotts saw years earlier. Everyone was very quick to defend Universal for “raising the bar” back then!

Hell you don't even have to look at far back. Just look to earlier this year with Hagrid's. That attraction was also not 100% ready to go when it opened.

But you saw the same reaction to that, that you are seeing for Rise. Which is "Worth the wait" and "Best attraction ever".

it’s an amazing ride I’m sure. But

Front page Drudge and other news outlets story today is Disney’s $1 Billion ride breaks down 18 minutes after opening.

The Twitter morons have tweeted.

Hollywood Studios park opening was 8:00 today, but at 5:30 we were lined up in the hub and the ride opened around 6:30 (if I remember correctly). The ride then went down between 7:00 and 8:00, which was too bad, but this was still before the planned opening time! We got into the pre-show at 8:04.

I was very impressed by the cast members and how smooth it went with the boarding groups. There was a bit of chaos after the ride went down as people who had been given a FP kept hanging around the entrance. I think they hadn’t anticipated this. CMs kept going around telling people that they could come back anytime, but really ... when you got up early and spent hours waiting outside the park, you don’t want to go ride Slinky and possibly risk a huge line when you get back.

The CMs were great and there were SO many! When we first entered the land they were guiding everyone toward MFSR and there seemed to be hundreds of CMs lining the walkway. It was incredible.

What were people expecting for the drones? Were we looking for a dog fight in the sky?
Many people were expecting a flyover of the land possibly with some doppler sound effects, not a raise up slowly and fly away. It looked extremely underwhelming on youtube.

I'll ask you again:. What has gone so horribly wrong today? It seems to be going rather well.

First I have nothing against the ROTR, what I’m not happy about is how management and lousy executives bungled something that should have been a success smash hit. Instead it becomes an embarrassment because of greed and incompetence.

It has been said by people here that they have never been able to get consistent performance out of the attraction without downtime. If the daily course of operations of the attraction involves regular consistent downtime then the ride is not ready. Rather than rushing everything to meet an arbitrary deadline set by an idiot like Chapek, it was rushed and corners were cut, undercutting a key Disney element like show. (You know something that used to matter to them)

So now you’re going to have some ok days and some very bad days where ROTR will have to be patched up every night third shift. Great Job Disney!

That was almost certainly never going to happen. I seriously doubt the FAA would've ever cleared a drone of that size for a long pass over an enormous crowd of people.

Everything was good until grouper decided to split a party of 5 into 4 and 1 instead of 3 and 2 for some bizarre reason and ended up messing up the counts. They had to call one of the supervisors over to ask what to do with myself and my friend as we were extras. They had us stand in the middle of that room for a minute until they had us join the next party that was waiting in line.

Plus, they wouldn't look correct flying over the people due to their size.
They need to be employed in a way where perspective works in their favor.

It looked like the only crowd in the land at that time were at the stage so I'm not sure there wasn't somewhere else where the xwings could have remained in sight while flying for more than a couple of minutes.
