Disney tech is so bad. Ready to go at 7. Click join, then tells me something went wrong and kicks me out. Try again and they are gone.

One of the many reasons this system sucks.

It would make far more sense to let anyone with a reservation join the lottery the night before and then announce the winners/assign boarding groups at 8 AM or some other time the next morning. That way everyone is on equal footing.

Of course that system wouldn't work once the park reservation system goes away, but it would be fine at the moment.

Makes you wonder if they’ll implement the single rider line when things ever get back to “normal”

😲

I thought RotR had no planned single rider line. How would that work, considering the shuttle, etc?

Speaking of things getting back to normal... Would you say that RotR operations are improving enough for them to be considering a regular standby queue post-COVID? Or something other than the current boarding group system?

Question for anyone: What if a member of your party doesn't have their phone? Can they be scanned in using their park admission media?

I would like to second this question. I know the boarding groups conceal a lot of the ride’s performance issues from guests, but it feels like the ride is in a worse spot now than when it opened 11 months ago.

Has any progress been made in regard to the ride’s reliability this year?

From what I've personally seen, the ride's reliability is very similar to pre-Covid levels. The ride still goes down a ton. It has its good days, its bad days, etc. The only recognizable difference is they've been running a TON of vehicles now to dispatch at the lowest interval possible. This is to make up for the terrible capacity numbers they were dealing with when one party was assigned per-vehicle. Someone else mentioned (a long time ago [like pre-Covid]) that WDI purposely was running half / 70% of the available vehicles because they assumed running less vehicles increased uptime.

Who knows what's going on anymore... Would definitely be interesting to know how much (if any) work is going on behind the scenes on finishing this project.

Just my luck the one time I went back in march the ride was down for 4 hours. I wasted 4 hours waiting for the ride to come up after cast members telling us it would be a couple of minutes and since I was evacuated before we got one, we saw a lot of the backstage portion of the ride(everything is just office space) given that notion though, difficult to say on how they run things and will be interesting to see how the numbers change one DHS opens back up at 9am this week! Will they either fill more BG or increase the capacity by an hour and half?

Just a little tip for those of you who may have family or yourselves with mobility issues. When we were there last week with my parents, both of whom are in scooters and one has poor sight in the dark, the CMs had us go through the queue with their scooters. Long story short is that the switchbacks inside are very narrow and can be difficult to see. My mom got stuck in one of the posts and I wound up maneuvering her scooter and she walked the second half of the queue. Not a great experience. The second time we went on it, we waited until our boarding group was called and then we went to the disability entrance. I explained the situation to the cm and he scanned our magic bands and allowed us to go through the mobility/FP queue. This was much easier and my parents actually decided to walk it because they were concerned about the experience they had on the scooters before. TL;DR if you have mobility issues see if the CMs will let you in the mobility queue even without a disabilities card (which maybe I should have gotten for them but it’s ok)

I think I probably already know the answer to this, but....

If you win a boarding group and they end up not getting to you (or a lot of others, as it appears happened today), is there any compensation offered?

When you get one there is a bit that it doesn't guarantee that it'll be called. When mine wasn't called (and it was "temporarily unavailable" in the app wait times so they knew it wouldn't be) all I got was the "unfortunately we can't accommodate you" in app and as a notification. Well that and a sad lil girl...
