Appears they might be holding at 129 today.

Definitely not as smooth as earlier this week but overall still a respectable number considering the morning downtime.

So today my family and I arrived in Orlando for an exciting week at WDW! (last visit was in May '17)

We went to Disney Springs for the remaining afternoon, in which we went to guest services to claim our tickets and get our park hopper passes ready and prepared. Considering the impending storms for tomorrow, Hollywood Studios seems like the most appropriate park of the four to do on such day.

The kind CM lady gave us a bunch of tips on how to tackle Star Wars. She expressed that we should get there early before 6am, as they will start letting in guests around 6:30ish, to not let the front gates get mobbed with guests.
She also noted that we must all be scanned into the park before official park opening (which is 7am), add all of us to a party and join a BG!
At least everyone seems to be on the same page now and Disney is now letting guests know what exactly to do to get a BG.

Really excited to (hopefully) experience this masterpiece of an attraction tomorrow! Nothing's better than to start your vacay off with a bang! Really need this after a long and stressful semester ahaha..
Good luck! Keep us posted on your boarding group!

You should be fine getting there about 6/6:15.

Except that thousands of people were following Disney's instructions to be there by the park opening time and getting zero chance to ride because the boarding groups were all taken well before the park was scheduled to open. That was unfair and rewarded only those who read Twitter or message boards to know an early opening was likely. It was leading to lots of irate guests who scheduled their whole day to be at the park an hour before the park open, only to find out it opened two hours early without notice to anyone and they lost their chance.

Now everybody has an equal shot to ride if you're there by the scheduled open time. Plus it has the added bonus of deterring people from getting there at 4am. The playing field is leveled to everyone, whether or not you're a nerd who reads these boards.

It's like if Ticketmaster told everyone tickets to the hottest concert are going on sale at 7am on Saturday morning. People plan their day to be up, at their computer and ready to buy. Only to find out that they went online at 5am and sold out by 5:30. That is highly unfair to everyone involved.

But there are always pre-sales. Usually days before tickets go on sale to the general public. The pre-sale seats are for people with certain credit cards or members of the fan club. In order to get the good seats at pre-sale, they needed to go above and beyond just logging on at the time tickets go on sale to the general public. I've seen concerts sell out just with pre-sale dates. They don't even get to the general public date. I feel like people who arrive early should get the earlier boarding groups. The people who get there earliest get on soonest for FOP and 7DMT. The people who get to the park earliest get to walk on rides while the people who arrive later have to wait. Or at the very least allow resort guests to get BG's first. For like the first 15 minutes, resort guests only. And then after that allow everyone.

And as we've seen over the past few days, this new BG begins at 7am thing isn't deterring people at all from arriving hours early.

No, sorry that is not a fair comparison. Yes there are pre-sales but those are listed for those fan clubs/groups. Resort guests getting in early for EMH would be a good comparison. However, in the case of ROTR, there are no pre-sales, everyone starts at the same time.

Exactly and if people continue to pointlessly show up hours early that is their own problem. Shouldn’t be expecting any reward for being tryhards at this point.

I knew I didn’t need to be here that early, but I showed up early for my desire to get a BG and rope drop Falcon since I really disliked my first experience as an engineer. There were people around me that literally did not know why they were following the pack (strange) as well as devoted, (not kidding) robotic fans. That did not make sense.

I combined the early arrival not knowing the christmas rush with whether Disney would change it again due to the holiday pre-weekend. I was able to almost walk on Falcon (was given the engineer card, but pleaded for pilot) and actually had an enjoyable experience crashing the Falcon. I don’t know if I will fly it again, but it was fun to be led ALL the way around the land to get there. So, yes I was one of those people who arrived too early and will never do it again ;-).

It was a pain to hang out, go home, drive back. Yet, I did not trust whether all would remain the same with the frequent changes with the system. So it will take a while to reinforce new behavior. Intermittent reward is powerful reinforcement. We will need Disney to remain consistent in order to produce proper guest behavior. Once they decide on a plan and remain consistent, only then will it extinguish the unnecessary behavior of arriving too early. And that can take a long time 🤭

Tomorrow will hopefully be our first time on RotR! Off to bed, alarm set, ponchos packed! Hoping crowds will be lower throughout due to the storm, though it puts a considerable damper on our MVMCP tomorrow. Gonna treat it like an E-Ride Night.
I wish you the best of lucks. Hope everything goes well, and you get to enjoy it. Let us know how it went for you.

Have fun! 😊

What’s the shortest notice I should expect for a possible park hours change the second week of January? Day before? Day of?? So far it’s holding steady at 8am...

Now you really have NO way to plan your day because you have no clue what BG you'll have. At least with the BGs opening earlier than 7, you had sort of an idea where you would land for a BG based on what time you arrived. Now it's just a crapshoot.

You cant make assumptions... then count them as gold... and then turn around and blame others if it was actually fools gold. You couldnt take assumptions like that to the bank... thats bad form

Your day couldnt be a locked up plan ... it would have to be flexible. To think otherwise would only be setting yourself up for false expectations
