Honestly, something as fitting as GOTG being shoehorned into TL probably would't ruffle anyone's feathers. That place has been in dire need of something...ANYTHING...non-SW for a long time.
People lose their minds if a churro cart gets moved or if the design on popcorn buckets changes. You might just be underestimating the DizFan community's capacity for outrage.

This is going to make Star Tours look like hot doo-doo in comparison.

Yup. This land and its two mega E Tickets will make Star Tours look like exactly what it is; a 1980's simulator ride shoehorned into Tomorrowland.

Personally, I'm more interested in how they will handle the Star Tours Problem out at DHS, where it sits just steps away from Star Wars Land in a park that will still have only 9 rides once they get Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land open. At least at Disneyland it's on the opposite side of the park that has 35+ rides.

Star Tours is going to look super-duper hokey in 2019, but at least at Disneyland they can shut it down immediately and spend three years turning it into something else without impacting park operations. At DHS, they don't have that luxury.

It's the lesser of two evils. TL is already a mess.

Now if Disney came out and revealed some grand plan for TL of course that would change everything.
Yep, total mess. Kinda at the point I wouldn't care if they changes ST into Iron Man and put in a GOTG ride. That being a said, agree that a "grand plan" would be much better. They could very easily close down everything but SM once Star Wars Land has been open for awhile and re-imagine TL. I still wish they would redo it to look like the Tomorrowland movie.

Sure. Broadly speaking, Outer Space, Pixar, and the new and citing technology:the internal combustion engine.
That was more of a joke...but yeah. Its so convoluted I can hardly cipher what it is apart from "space...and whatever else won't fit into the other lands".

Interesting cropping choice you made.;) You didn't specify just the head

I didn't need to.. as that's what I was referring too all along with the '10ft box' comment.. which should have been pretty obvious to everyone -- As the rest of the figure, being inside a multi-story building, clearly is nothing like 10ft. (but you assumed stupidity.. instead of actually looking at the subject at hand)

which if the elevator thing happens, would be subject to the greatest stress

Actually it wouldn't - that would be the neck.. which again doesn't justify making the head out of 1ft beams. In fact, it goes against making the thing out big heavy ibeams, as that further increases the loads the head needs to support vs using lighter materials that offer the same rigidity and support needed. So that's not the reason.

And these elevator comments... why would they set these things upright and attach the suspended loads.. AND THEN MOVE them somewhere else? Doesn't make any sense.

I had that picture of the WDW model in mind when I asked the question. It is a significantly smaller structure and the only force it is subjected to is gravity, barring hurricane winds when the park would be closed. As such, it's pretty worthless to this discussion.

Only when the park is closed? LOL.. you don't build things to fail or not based on closing the park. The thing is built to sustain hurricane force winds.. and is a giant sail with only foundations to support itself. And for size.. the DHS one is over 35ft tall. And if you do some basic rough measuring of the image we have here.. the ones inside are roughly 45' tall.

This would be amazing. Here's what I want to see.

1. A unified, futuristic theme (at least in the design of the land if they can't get some of the rides that don't fit out of there).

2. Kinetic energy

3. A nice sit down restaurant with huge windows that is at least 4-5 stories high so folks can appreciate the kinetic energy.

4. There should be multi levels. At least 3 levels of real activity. Not everything taking place at ground level.

5 it would be really cool if they could harness the spirit of the original TL / 67 redo with rides that would interest today's audiences.

So is Hollywood Land.

Much less so. All of the hodge podge-iness is secluded in the backlot which I've always just wanted them to create a new land with anyway. I was one who was looking forward to the Monsters Doors Coaster.

Hollywood Blvd starting at Carthay all the way down to the Hyperion and turning right to TOT I thought was pretty solid theming. Especially with Trolley going by. Now I think the theming could have been executed better but it's still solid if you exclude the backlot which is kind of hidden really.

Kinda like how most people ignore The Nemo Subs and Autopia as part of Tomorrowland.

Annnd ... blocked.

To others, blocking is not a practice I take lightly, and I've not seen need to block anyone else. But I find nothing more pointless or tedious than a p*ssing contest with someone so juvenile and aggressively offensive. I regret having added that first little three word light-hearted comment that escalated into this. I fully expect he will respond to this with more childish mockery, and I apologize to everyone else that you'll be the ones reading it instead of me.

Ya kind of. The difference is Autopia / Subs are pretty visible eventhough we may not feel like they re part of TL. Where as the Hollywood Backlot is pretty much invisible unless you go back there.

I think it was @Kira Nerys said he has blocked everyone.:D
