If we assume it's a low capacity hotel... say like 200-400 rooms.. you don't need huge towers, etc. For perspective, pop century buildings are roughly 288 rooms per building. Two of the pop buildings today fit inside a 400x500 box. That kind of footprint alone fits in the cleared area today pretty easily. Obviously they need more than the rooms.. but just to put some element of scale into things.

Because it's all indoors - you can control the the perspective guests have about where they are. They can make the whole thing look like a spaceport from the outside arrival area... and the illusion of reality can start as soon as you park or are transported to the building.

So if they build this hotel on the brown area in the picture below I would assume they will use an elevated walkway over the entrance road to enter directly into Galaxy’s Edge.

Will they have to hide the back of the show building now? I guess maybe they would need to anyway since the road goes right by it.

I know this won’t happen but if you have to see the hotel from inside the park my vote is to make it look like this:

It would make sense if the hotel facade or entrance was a spaceport of some kind that links earth to the Star Wars universe.... that way it wouldn't be a large warehouse they have to hide with a mountain.

Isn't is already hidden behind a mountain from the park, based on the park layout?

Do we think that they're going to make the outside of the building look like an actual spaceship?
Also, from outside the hotel I assume the illusion breaking view of the Galaxy's Edge sheds will be very visible.

Unless, you know... trees, lots of trees.

I would expect the entrance is themed, and guests will all be directed in through a controlled access path. I wouldn't think of this like other hotels where you walk around outside. More like an attractaction where the entrance is a controlled path into a giant ride building that you never see. Likewise, since you're not walking around outside, you'll never see the back of SWGE either.

Or vr “windows”. There have been some patents that some (Len Testa) have speculated might be for the monorail, but could work for the hotel too.

If there's no real windows in whatever elevated path/tunnel/train/tram/walkway/whatever it is that's completely enclosed, then there isn't anything to hide. It's completely hidden since you're never outside to see it. I'm thinking something nicer than the long halls from the Land to Sorin.

My guess is you enter a building from a front door (by hotel parking, bus stops) and only see the outside again if you go back out that front door or through an enclosed path directly into SWGE. (Transportation on the path yet to be determined by foot/carrier/train/whatever.) No other real views of outside. Just lots of virtual scenes showing you in space. Would be a nice touch if the enclosed path to SWGE is done on something simulating a shuttle down to the planet from the starship, and then back up when you return.

On the down side, I wouldn't expect a lot of jogging paths or outdoor pools like other resorts. An indoor gym treadmill and whatever counts as a pool on a spaceship inside. Maybe an indoor track around the ship. If there's a fire drill and they evacuate the building, you'll get lots of views of backstage that wouldn't normally be seen.

I agree with you on all of your points. I also think that makes staying in this resort more than three nights tops very unlikely. I think the sweet spot for this experience will be two nights.

The road probably won't be there by the time the hotel opens.

I’m not sure how I’d feel about no windows at all or exposure to the outside. I guess that would add to the immersion. I may not be the target demo for this type of experience.

I have to assume that if the resort is that close to DHS there will be some attempt to give you a view into the park and/or fireworks viewing. Maybe an upper level observation deck or something.

I don’t know but I almost think there will be no outside views to make sure the illusion isn’t broken, unless they can ensure that you only see Batuu, but I don’t know how that is possible. Plus you’re supposed to be in space.

I think they will use the space between the two show buildings as the connector entrance between the hotel and SWGE. I guessed that the gap between the marketplace building and the two show buildings would be an additional pathway for park guests to pass from one end to the other in addition to the path through the marketplace building and pathway on the other side of the marketplace building. But they have completely closed it off on both sides so it is only open to the gap between the show buildings and the marketplace building. I kept thinking why did they close that off. Now it seems like the perfect place for hotel guests to enter SWGE.

Could be designed as an inward facing donut with a courtyard in the middle. Views from the room could be to the central court (which could be roofed in some way) giving them control over the enviornment without it feeling claustrophobic.

How in the world do we spend months, even years, speculating and fantasizing yet we seemed to miss an actual official announcement???!!!!

While this may have already been known to us via insiders (@marni1971 ) I cannot believe no one posted this.

"Today we are happy to share the location of this exciting addition, which is currently under development on the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, just east of World Drive."
