Splash Mountain laughing place scream gone?

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but I just got back from Disney World on Monday, and I rode SM about 4 times. The first time I rode it we were about to go down the drop to the laughing place (you go down, then up, and back down, you what I'm talking about) our log stopped right before the drop, then proceeded about 5 seconds later. When we went down, and started back up I didn't hear the scream. I thought that maybe it was missed because of the delay, but after riding it a few more times during my visit, I noticed that the scream was never heard. Anyone else notice this? BTW, not to get off topic, but the Haunted Mansion was great. I love the stair cases, but in the attic scene there were portraits of the bride with her husbands with no heads, I don't know if the effect was working correctly, because I remember hearing that the heads were supposed to disappear, but they were never visible at all. Also, the glass in the Grand hall scene looked smeared and blurry on the upper right hand side for about 10 feet, but it still is very much improved from the last time I was there in May of 07.

I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the same spot you're talking about, but when we went in April, after the big drop, there was a part where Brer Rabbit said "I didn't say it was YOUR laughin' place brer Bear. I said it was MY laughin' place...and I'm laughin'". Is that the part you're talking about?

No, he's referring to Brer Fox's howl as he supposedly falls into the bee cave. (The presumption is that Brer Bear was successful in boosting Fox up and through the hole just before the drop, and you're following Brer Fox down into the cave) You normally hear the howl during the down-up-down drop.

Perhaps it's simply a matter of a malfunctioning sensor. There's probably one during the drop that the log trips which causes the sound effect to play. If the sensor wasn't working, the sound wouldn't play.

There's a lot of things that need work in the refurb in January. Let's hope they get to them all.

I rode Splash 6 times last week, and have done it about 30 times altogether. I don't remember a scream. Did you go with the same people this time?

That's the spot I was talking about. I thought it might had been a sensor not working properly, but I was just curious if any one else had noticed, and how long it hadn't been working. BTW, I never knew it was Brer Fox's howl, thanks for clearing that up for me.

That's probably my favorite part of the ride(beside the drop). I love hearing that howl, it adds to the screams of everyone in the log. lol

I believe it's where brer bear has his head inside a trunk of atree and says there's no laughin place in here, just bee's in here, and you hear brer rabbit scream at the the top of his lungs as you go down.

That's right, it's Brer Fox boosting Brer Bear up and into the hole... (I'd forgotten about his line "there's nothing in here but bees") Brer Rabbit can be seem above the ride flume and he pokes his head out and laughs as the log goes into the drop. But the howl *during* the drop is defintiely Brer Fox.

EDIT: Found a video on YouTube that apparently dubbed in the source audio. You can hear the sequence in question at the 5:30 mark.

There's Bear's line about the bees, then Rabbit's high-pitched laugh, then Fox's howl that occurs during the drop.

Another cued sound effect that's not always working is Brer Bear as you crest the drop into the briar patch. Rabbit's lines end with "but *please* don't throw me in that briar patch!" and Brer Bear says "Briar patch?" as you crest the top of the hill...
