if you look outside of Florida and So California, most parks close for 2-4 months entirely, during which they do all of their ride rehabs and overhauls. There's nothing wrong with giving the mechanics, vehicles, ride systems, etc a good overhaul every year or two, and especially one with so many show elements. Many of which have been noted to not be working correctly recently.
If anything, it's actually almost not a good thing that Disney doesn't put more rides on regular rehab schedules, as you can see how the wear and tear starts to get to them without it.

I hope you mean "mechanisms" and NOT "mechanics"... I don't know many mechanics who would agree to be overhauled every year or two...

For the people working on the ride, I've heard they get a couple of days a week for their refurb.

While it isn’t impossible, it has happened before... most of the time it is unlikely. More often than not a refurb would last longer than shorter. (Not saying it will last longer, but there is a better chance of that happening rather than a shorter time period.)

Look at it this way, if BTM is going to get it’s rumored explosive finale This year that is going to be a 6-9 month refurb which means that if they want any chance of having it open for Christmas 2020 it will likely go down the day Splash opens back up. So no matter what, early 2020 trips will have a Frontierland Mtn down for refurb.

Where did you hear that?
Is it shorter or longer? To be truthful I guessed, as DL’s was part of their track replacement. There’s a lot of things that need to be removed and replaced.
I can confirm - Yes, it still sucks.
Even after it's annual sub-standard refurb. What it needs is a complete re-imagining!
Does it need them?
All it takes is some fool to stand up and get out.
