Spamer help...

I am part of a forum and lately their has been slight problem with spam....

Is their any technique to make them not spam and become productive...
I was just wondering...

When I was running a forum for my school, people kept spamming just so they could say they had the highest post count. I just eventually set it so they could only post once every 30 seconds and left it off for administrators. I then set up a new thread called Posts. Then I put up a quick reply and taped down my enter button. I came back later with 2500 posts. That stopped the spamming. So, I spammed my own forums to keep them from spamming.
