It's been weeks since we've had any news on this project.

Does anyone have any new info? Soundtrack? New show elements? Realistic re-opening date?

Cmon! This can't be THAT big of a secret! (and if it is such a secret, why??)

Nov 21 2009 is the reopening date.

WDI are a LOT better at keeping secrets on new projects now. Very little concrete information leaks out. Members of WDI would rather keep their jobs than supply info to websites.

Like I asked in another thread, Steve....do you buy that November opening date?

As for WDI keeping secrets....true. Lot less info leaking my way, and some of what does seems like red herrings.

Depending on what will be done, the timeline appears to be tight, but my guess is they'll open it (finished or not) for the holiday crowds and continue to tweak (add effects, etc) afterwards. SSE anyone?

Sorry Lee, missed your other post.

It seems that rumors of the scope of the work are so variable that we can't really take anything as solid on this project. The only thing I do know for sure is that internally Disney are using the Nov 21 2009 date in a lot of places, and in places where it's basically as good as set in stone. That makes it very hard to ignore. I'm assuming that it very could well be a 2 phase approach, as with PoC and SSE.

Yeah, I saw that date a while back and knew it had been sent out to travel agents, etc. Assuming (very unsafe) that even 80% of what I hear is true about the scope of the project is true, getting it done by then will be a major feat.
Hoping against the 2 phase approach. Better to just do it all and get it over with, I think. Rushing to get it open by the holidays....asking for trouble.

I will say that both sides are running better than they have in years. I rode multiple times last week, and I'd rate the rides very high.

It is possible that this is one of two phases, where they will do a lot of the non-asthestic work in the first refurb, reopen it for the holiday rush, then close it again for a second phase?

A two phased approach was discussed before the okay was given for new track - with the second phase being a few years away.

I took that as the first phase would be track replacement and phase two being cosmetic stuff.

That'd make the most sense. Doing cosmetic work before you drag in new track would be quite silly.

All I really hope for is that they clean the lift hill area. You can't even see the crew figures anymore it's so dirty.

Hah! Yeah.
I was going up the lift last week and couldn barely see the guys inside the space station due to the cloudy windows. I kinda wondered what they were up to in there to fog the window up so much....:lookaroun

You know, after the news that Space would probably be down for a good while and get the TLC it desperately needs, I began to see a small pinprick of light at the end of the dark, dark tunnel that is WDW Management. This thread has cover that light with a big, lead wall.:brick:
