My friend was recently in Disney world about 3 days ago and her mom was talking to a CM who said that there were going to be changes in space Mountain to make it more like RNRC.... IS this true?????????? My friends parents are disney fans like us here they are annual pass holders but live here in IL so I know they wouldn't joke about this stuff.... Is this really happening?????????

I wish. :sohappy:

However, I haven't heard of anything of this sort being greenlit, though many at WDI and management would like to see it done...not like RnRC, exactly, but a new, modernized, improved Space Mountain.

I wouldn't mind them redoing most of it i would just think it would be hard to see it go.... But change would be good in this case!

I hope they don't change space mountain. I like it how it is. Sure it may be a bit outdated, but it's still among my favorites and I would be very sad to see it significantly changed.

I think that whould be cool to see space mountin change and become more thilling than it is now.I whould like to see space mountin have a luch and have inversons in it like the one in paris. I liked space mountin when I was yonger I aways got on space mountin evey time I visted the park but as I got older and taller I don'nt like space mounatin anymore becuse it is rough for someone as tall as I am. I whould like to see space mountin updated and more thilling then it is now.

Its probably some weird mixture of the news regarding Disneylands space mountain which is getting completely gutted and re-done to the same way it was. Now they had upgraded their SM over there to include an on board soundtrack among other things (which made it like RRnC), but that was a while ago. So I'm guessing it was a mixture of all that or something.

If they do redo it, I hope it doesn't become a Disneyland or Disneyland Paris clone. I like to see the rides remain unique to the park they are originally built in. Disneyland Paris's space mountain is awesome, but it is unique to that park and I would like to see it stay that way. I don't know, I just like the classic rides to remain classics. I do agree that it currently is not all that friendly to those who are tall. I'm like six feet tall and it always seems to take me awhile to get into or out of the car because of the limited leg room. However, I still feel that this is a classic ride and I would like to see it remain that way.

I wish the ride was smoother like RnR. I would welcome an updated Space Mountain. I always feel like I was just beaten up after riding Space Mountain.

Please don't change Space Mountain right now! Grizz is still busy attempting to obstruct the changes to The Land. He won't have enough time to devote to slowing down progress at Space Mountain too!:)

Disneyland's Space Mountain will return from rehab with both built-in sound and a new launch. We are not currently aware of any plans to modify Walt Disney World's Space Mountain.

I would most definitely like to see a complete rehab of Space Mountain and add some more modern features. Currently, the ride is old and rough, but it still thrills the hell out of me when I ride it!

Due to Spacemountain's status. I believe changing the ride would be like tearing down the Coney Island Cyclone. Space Mountain may only be 29 years old, but I would consider that an old classic.

Space Mountain NEEDS a major rehab! I don't mean changing the ride... I mean upgrading and enhancing it, there's a difference....

- Smoother tracks
- Better effects
- Safer control system
- on-exit camera system

I could live with a rehab, so long as the ride itself is not changed. Everything could use an occasional sprucing up, but like DarkMeasures stated, it is one of the classic rides. Rehabs are okay, just don't change the track layout and ride around.

This is another of those repeating thread that rears it's head every few weeks

I think my standard reply is to give it a rehab, maybe add some new effects and sound, but leave the track layout alone as it's a classic.

I used to enjoy Space Mountain.

But the older I get, the more I feel like this ride is to jerky for my old bones.
I'd like to keep the ride as it is but I wish it were a little smoother.
We quit riding it 2 years ago.
I miss it but it hurts too much now.
It's like going to a bad chiropractor.

My sis and I rode it last month.... it's not scary to us anymore. We still loved it though. The entire time we were trying to tell each other where the next drop or turn was....the people behind us thought we were crazy.

"LEFT!"

"DROP!"

"OMG RIGHT!"

I agree...its a classic..but the track is very bumpy (although i'm not a coaster expert!!) so a rehab would be great.

But please leave the chocolate chip cookie asteriods......pleeeeeeeeaaaaasssee!!!!!

I was talking with someone who recently went to WDW. They said that they installed a single rider line in Space Mountain. Now THAT'S a good idea. I remember waiting in the same spot for about 15 minutes in the fastpass line. The single rider line just kept walking past us...
