Please join The Studio Chapter on Sunday, April 27th, as we present a special program on the classic and controversial Disney motion picture “Song of the South.”

We'll be having a panel discussion covering the history of this classic film, the controversy surrounding it, and the film-inspired theme park attraction “Splash Mountain.” We’ll also be showing a special video presentation as part of the program. In addition to our “Song of the South” program, we’ll have the first of our “Member Show and Tell” presentations, where Chapter members will show us favorite items from their Disney collections. There’ll also be a raffle for Disney prizes and refreshments will be available. With so much to see, do, and discuss, this promises to be a fun and exciting meeting, so be sure to join us for a zip-a-dee-doo-dah afternoon!

The Studio Chapter meets at 1:00 p.m. in the Mary Pickford Education Center at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage. We will be moving the meeting to the museum theatre for our video presentation; please arrive promptly for the meeting so we don‘t lose you! The Autry Museum is located in Griffith Park (directly across from the L.A. Zoo) at 4700 Zoo Drive (Western Heritage Drive), near the intersection of the Golden State (5) and Ventura (134) Freeways. There is plenty of free parking. Non-members are welcome to attend. For more information or directions, please visit our website, http://www.geocities.com/studiochapter , or e-mail Paul Schnebelen at pschnebs@yahoo.com .

Ditto. Too far for me, but please let us know how the discussion goes. I especially want to hear opinions about releasing the film. I would like to see it released on DVD, with many special features (maybe even one on the history of Uncle Remus in the black culture of the South, etc., to put it in context).

If you do tell us about it, perhaps you should start a new thread under the "Movies/TV/DVD" forum topic.

Question: What's the cost?

another question: Do you have to be a member to go?

I know if I can I really would like to go to this and I have a few friends who might want to come along as well. I actually haven't seen Song of the South in it's entirety ever.

Also if anyone else is going let me know :).
