Hello from germany :) ...we are doing again the transatlantic cruise in a few weeks and of course we are curios if we`ll meet somebody from last year and who is sailing with us..
We had so much fun last year with our little daughter, Agnes, born with a little extra, the Downsyndrom. So many people made us happy, because of this we go to Disney every year. Agnes is now 2 and a half and we went to WDW already in january this year because may husband Markus did the marathon. She like winnie the pooh so much and of course the small world..

So please let us know if you are sailing with us, we stay 5 nights before in saratoga, happy to see you soon!

Hi I am not on the transatlantic, but I am from Germany, too! So I wanted to say "Herzlich Willkommen" to wdwmagic! The cruise board here is a lovely community!

Hope you will have a fabulous cruise, a transatlantic cruise is high on my list of cruises I want to do in the future!

We are not doing the Transatlantic this year, but we were on it last May and it was awesome. The best cruise experience and vacation we have ever had.

I am on this cruise (May 19th) - what was the weather like when you did it last year- just curious as I have no idea what to expect :)

Very excited. First time on a cruise, and first time taking my daughter to Europe.

We had wonderful weather for 11 of the 14 days. It was warm during the days and cool in the evening, we all needed a light jacket If we were going to be on the deck in the evenings.

There were two days of rain (one at sea and it was cold and rainy in Funchal), nothing major, and the day after we crossed the Straits of Gibraltar was very rough. But for the most part it was wonderful.

Thanks Ricky. Was it warm enough on the good days to use the pool?
OK, Let me answer your question that we are not big pool people, so we did not go to the pools after our Castaway Cay day, day 3 or 4 (although our 10 year old went swimming almost every day).

The pools were full everyday except after we crossed Gibraltar when it was too cold and rainy.

Ok... my wife just chimed in - had some more questions -

What were good day trips to book at the ports? (w 2 year old)
Also any inside secrets on anything or tips?
Also - do you really need formal wear for adult dinners?

thanks so much for your input!

I wore a suit to the formal nights and Palo and dress shirt and jacket (no tie) to the semi-formal nights. My wife had dresses for the formal nights and blouse/skirt or dress pants for the semi-formal nights. There were quite a few people in full tuxedo, but the suit was fine.

Secret tips: 1. The time change going east bound is brutal, try not to schedule anything early in the morning and be prepared to be wide awake at 1 or 2 am on time change days. 2. the educational seminars and lectures are really interesting. We had Stacia Martin on our cruise and she gave a lecture on the 1964 World's Fair and animation classes that were awesome. 3. We bought a map prior to sailing and had the officers chart the course for us and Captain Robert signed it for us at the end of the trip.

I am not sure what ports they are stopping at this year, we had Castaway Cay, Funchal and Gibrltar. I can tell you the ones we did with the two year old, if you have the same ports. We also did the Barcelona excursion with drop off at the airport.

Just relax. Disney is the Best for family. And the time Chance is nothing to worry about. We did excursions on our own. Stops this year is funchal , malaga , of Course castaway and final Barcelona. The best is going off take a taxi or walk and look around for nice places. IT was very easy last year. In funchal we did a trip with the cable car and visited the market. This year we Stay on the ship . Its our 7th cruise. See you on the ship

If it would have been just the adults the time change would not have bothered us. But we did the trip with a two year old, which affected us quite a bit because his time did not change although he ships time did. More than once he fell asleep during dinner, which would be his normal nap time but for the time change. Then he would be up until 1 or 2 AM, and sleep in until 11AM.

That being said the cruise was amazing and we would do it again in a heartbeat.
