Solo travelling!

Hey everybody!!! I'm planning a trip to Disney next year, now i'm not a newbie, been there 6 times between 200 and 2011, but this time i'm going solo. I'm looking for any advice and help. I've been told solo travelers can't get reservations at certain restaurants. Is this true? Also, I there any tips or tricks that can help a solo traveler so he can enjoy himself as much as everyone else?? lol

Having said that, solos should be able to get ADRs at all restaurants, as far as I know. As for enjoying yourself, I recently found going solo extremely enjoyable. Not having to worry about someone else having a good time, or making sure the little one isn't getting into anything, all make for a more relaxed and leisurely time. Have fun!

I went solo a few years ago and had a great time. I had no problem getting reservations at the restaurants I wanted and enjoyed them all . Know in advance which rides have solo rider lines so you don't waste your Fastpasses (and time!)

I go solo every year and love it! I did have a problem getting a reservation at Boma last year for a party of 1. So if no availability shows up I always check to see if a spot for 2 is open. I just booked for 2 and showed up alone. No problem.

I do travel solo quite a bit though (cruises, Europe, etc) so I'm used to it. One thing you have to remember is that a lot of solo's worry about what other people are thinking of them because they're alone. Funny thing, is that no one knows you're alone except you! So don't be self conscious. Everyone around you is so wrapped up in what they're doing that they aren't paying attention to what you're doing. Sitting alone on a ride? You could easily be with your group and the way the seats got divided up you got to sit alone, so don't worry about that.

I will do lunch at BOG, but other than that I really don't do ADR's…I'd rather just eat somewhere with counter service (or at Food & WIne) and have more time to enjoy the rides.

Going alone allows you to do more vs. going with someone else. The other bonus is that it's all about you and what you want to do. I always accomplish so much I make sure I go back to the resort and enjoy the pool for a while in the afternoons.

When in Nov will you be going? I will be somewhat solo in November. I am traveling alone and staying at POR solo but I have friends who will be arriving 2 days before me and 1 day after me (all staying at different resorts), and most of my plans are solo except for the dinners I planned with them and I have 3 early morning breakfast adrs for just myself. I will be venturing off solo quite a few times as I am there for 10 days.

The only restaraunt I would think would be prohibitive to solo travelers is the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's. It may be available I have not idea. I have never had an issue with getting an ADR for one at any WDW restaraunt unless it is completely booked.

I went solo for the first time last year and have 3 solo trips planned for next year. I was worried at first but it turned out being one of my favorite trips to WDW. I found other travelers to be very friendly and would talk to me in line or waiting for parades/fire works. One family I met included me when they were picked to turn on the Osborne Lights, and I am still in communication with them and will see them on my next trip. It's also nice to be able to do whatever you want when you want and not having to check with others and their plans. I was mostly worried about eating alone so I stuck with quick service meals, but you should have no issues getting a reservation for one. As others have said look for rides with solo rider lines as these save a lot of time.
