Soarin bag storage question

What happens on Soarin if your bags don't fit under the seat in the little storage area? I may have a fairly full backpack with me when I get to Epcot tomorrow, and I don't know that it will fit. Will I be able to just leave it on the floor? Will a cm take it? Or is my only option getting a storage locker?

Depending on the size, it can stay on the floor or be placed off to one side.

Last time we were there we had a small backpack that we just propped against the railing on the sides of the aisles so it would be out of the way.
No one cared and it was (of course) sitting right there when we came back down.

Here's a question- is there any way to stay on the platform while the ride is in motion?
I'd love to watch it sometime.
Maybe next time I'll leave a camera on the ground pointing up.

I wouldn't think it would be safe...what if something falls? Or there's an emergency stop? Not a great idea.

As a guest, absolutely not. Huge safety concern.

Unattended bags at Disney may cause a problem. At Disneyland bomb squads are called pretty frequently because someone has put their bag on the floor a little too far away from them.

Yes, large bags are permitted into the theatre, but if they're too large to fit in the under seat compartment, just leave it on the floor in front of you and a CM will move it to the side. Yes, it will be right there when you return. No, no one will touch your stuff. Also, no guest is allowed to stand on the floor while the ride is in the air. The only person on ground floor is the CM in the Tower position watching the video monitors. All the other Cast scan their rows and the areas, then safely leave the theatre before the flight is initiated. It's also the Tower CM's duty to check the cameras looking at the ground floor to check for "lost" guests.
