Soarin, around the world

Ok I can't stand it anymore. I know it just opened recently but has anyone ridden it and how was it?

Soarin was my favorite ride. I hope it still is.
Sadly I don't think you'll like it.

The old version had continuity... or at least it seemed to have more continuity than the new version.... Personally I think the new version just kind of does what seems like random jumps, or maybe its because it needs new music all of its own because the music it uses just makes me think of the old one even though I'm not seeing the old one... If you want to see it there are video out there now and one that was posted on WDW that was probably the clearest version I've ever seen of any Disney movie-ride.

OK I read the comments on the previous post but didn't see any mention of smells like the orange grove smell. Did they do anything like that on the new ride?

However I did see where a whale sprayed water into the air. Maybe we get hit with sprinkles of water?

OMG, just from the video's I have seen on the internet, it is arms and legs better then the old one. The transitions at least have continuity now and don't just change with no indication. There is either a ride up in the clouds or a screen filling thing that ends one sequence and starts out the next one. The ending is better, the middle is more interesting and the picture quality is not even questionably better. If you like the old one and don't hate Disney like some do... you will love it, I believe. And Patrick is still there plus the music is so close to the old one that it really doesn't make you think that it had changed. Of course, that is just my opinion, but, in this case I am not wrong. ;)

Yeah I'm with you. I think the video is great. Can't wait to go in person.

The updates are all welcome here. Finally 80-90% of the transitions HAD an actual transition, as short as it could be, but it wasn't just a flick and your at a new scene, there was a bit of magic involved. Commendable there.

Much more smells too, also welcoming.

Now to criticize two huge things IMO:

The concave screen ruins scenes for anyone not sitting in the center of the theater, shapes objects all start bending, and really bending if they are tall items and of main focus. Didn't like that one bit.

Lastly, the picture quality... its 2016, the image quality should be Super HD 4k+ for a showing like this. The HD appears like that of its inception in the early 2000's, poor poor poor....

Baby steps, like everything else.

I liked the new Soarin' film. Though, I love the smell of oranges, so that was missed by me. I sat both times on the left and the curved screen distorted the picture, so I am looking forward to seeing it from the center. And, I like the last scene very much!

So I have been hearing more and more about how bad the new one is if you get a seat towards the edges of the theater. That images are bent. Is there a definitive "I want to request this gate/seat/section" yet so we don't have to see the bendiness?!?

Trying to get a sense of how many bad seats there really are. I've heard Gate B is the only good place to see it now?

Don't forget to factor in the massive ability of people to exaggerate, especially in the negative. I have seen and heard very little about distortions and if you think about it... at least half to 2/3rd the riders will be on the outer fringes. There were a lot of distortions showing on the posted video's, but, that was through the perspective of a camera lens, not an eyeball. In the words of the 80's song... Don't worry, be happy!

At this point it's based on forum posts and Twitter posts. I haven't even seen any of the videos online. Waiting till August when we are there. Will be curious on how severe it is in A and C.

Yes, let us know because I am having a tough time believing that with all the new equipment that this would be a problem. I do suppose that if it is a curved screen light deflection might be evident, but, it shouldn't be extreme, it's all very close.
