So, You Want To Be the Sorcerer’s Apprentice?

Welcome all to our latest armchair imagineering game, kickstarting a year-long 25th Anniversary for the Imagineering forum. Can you believe it's been around that long? I don’t!

So, You Want to Be the Sorcerer’s Apprentice smashes two armchair imagineering competition series into one. So, You Want to Be an Imagineer, with over twenty successful seasons, first started years ago on the Visions Fantastic forum. SYWTBAI is famed for its one-of-a-kind prompts, creative strategy, and out-of-the-box twists.

All the while, on WDWMagic The Sorcerer’s Apprentice revolutionized what armchair imagineering competitions can be; known for its giant scale, season-long narrative, and an interconnected universe of projects.

So that was all well and good until @TheOriginalTiki, @PerGron, and I (@Outbound) messed up both universes and left us with this:

1779516281174.png

“So here’s the deal. It seems the two biggest games in the forums kind of collided and now the projects are just an absolute and complete mess, scattered well across the cosmos… luckily, while I was rifling through Yen Sid's desk the other day (don't ask) I came across this little beauty…”

GAMEPLAY

Players will compete on teams big, small, and wide in successive armchair imagineering projects, titled Stanzas.

Project Managers nominate one player the PoMVP (Power of MVP), a one-time immunity for the following Stanza. But beware! At the end of certain Stanzas, the Project Manager of a not-so-victorious team must nominate two other team members – as well as themselves – for a potential cut.

Along the way, teams will put back together the SYWTBAI and Sorcerer’s Apprentice realities. Together, they’ll build-out that empty map from before into something truly special.

At the end of our journey, one player will assume the responsibilities of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and our special dream park.

WALT’S VAULT

Now wait a minute! There’s trouble afoot!

Walt’s Vault of (in)famous SYWTBAI fame is back, threatening a variety of results every time a lucky (?) receiver of the Vault Key decides to take the risk to open it. Results can include prompt advantages and disadvantages, secret powers, a Diamond PoMVP, or ô̷ͅn̵̯͔̊͝͠e̵̹̔̃̉͝ ̴̯̺͌t̵̤̆̓i̴̱̞̫̎̑͗̚m̴̮̟̥͆̍e̵̤͔͒͛͝ ̸̩̠̦͇̚w̵͉̑͋̀͘ͅi̴͔̒̉̚s̶͍̎̋̅h̸̗͋ȅ̸̠͚s̴̥̙͕̮̒

A Vault Key was already sent to one of our esteemed players, and after each round, the player with the Key must pass it on to a player on the other team (who has not received a Key…)

Is that everything? I think so... if not, we’ll be sure to add below!

MEET THE CAST!

A talented thirteen have gathered with the hopes of becoming the Sorcerer's Apprentice. Soon, they will be divided into two teams of six/seven... but first, they ought to all work together...

around the world.jpg

Armchair Imagineers, I'm afraid the World Showcase has vanished. Yes, all of it. Whoops!

PROMPT

Replace all 11 countries in the World Showcase

1779517487449.png

There are 11 Countries for 1 Team of 13. You may choose to distribute the individual pavilions (and their contents within) however you see fit. BUT, there's a catch -

You MUST include the same attraction formats within the Showcase.
No more, No less.

Specifically
3 attractions, 1 animatronic show, 4 video-based shows

These attractions may be distributed anywhere across your new World Showcase.

This is a Non-Elimination Round

–Tips & Tricks–

That's a lot of countries! With eleven slots, it would be a good idea to brainstorm fast and settle quick on the places most inspiring each of you. With not every pavilion getting an attraction, each player can do as much or as little as they feel comfortable.

We're just warming up; don't take on too much too fast!

–Due Date–

This project is due Saturday, May 30th, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST.
(2:59 AM Maine Time, 12:59 AM Yellowstone National Park Time, 1:59 PM Bangkok Time)

Good Luck!

Big thanks to everyone for a really successful and active first project! The level of activity from everyone involved totally exceeded my expectations and makes me super excited for the rest of the competition. I'm currently waiting for @Outbound to post the next project because he has the required artwork. Stay tuned tonight at 8PM Eastern as Outbound and I do a live stream reviewing the project.

Alright, I'm going to go ahead and post the project as well as some general housekeeping. I'll update the graphics once I get them from Outbound. To kick things off, let's meet the new teams! This season to celebrate the Sorcerer's Apprentice theme the cast will be divided into teams named after two of the most iconic Fantasia composers

Team Stravinsky.jpg

@Architectural Guinea Pig
@Disney Dad 3000
@Lizzy May Bee
@WaltWiz1901
@Captain Orange Cacao Bird

@Half/CartoonHalf/Human
Team Dukas.jpg

@Pi on my Cake
@spacemt354
@ThemeParkPriest
@Brer Panther
@Disney Warrior
@TheSquirrel

There's one person missing from this roster, and unlike last time we didn't just miss the memo that he was in the cast. @Lord Fozzinator has been given the key to Walt's Vault and chosen to open it. Upon opening the vault, a CLOWN CAR pulls up and kidnaps Fozz before he's able to get sorted into a team. For this project, Fozz will have to complete an abridged version of the prompt on his own. At the end of the project, Fozz will join the losing team replacing the member who ends up being the first person eliminated from the competition. This is an opportunity for Fozz to really make an impression as a solo competitor while navigating the disadvantage of missing the first round of team gameplay.

@Architectural Guinea Pig has nominated Thesquirrel and Half Cartoon Half Human for elimination. This means both players are automatically locked in as one of two elimination nominations on their respective teams. The project leader will have to name one more nominee as well as a nominee for PoMVP. As a reminder, the project leader position cannot be repeated until everyone on your team has had rotated into that position. This resets at the merge and significant team swaps. AGP's position as team leader for the first project won't count towards this. That being said I'm still waiting for AGP to name two PoMVP recipients for the first project, one from each team. These players will be immune from being nominated for elimination.

Outbound, PerGron and myself will be reviewing the submissions for the Diamond PoMVP and will let the two recipients (again, one from each team) know once we've made that decision. With the housekeeping out of the way, let's go ahead and get to the next project which will be posted momentarily!

Stanza 2 Final.jpg

Legoland has always been a primarily kid focused theme park chain. This has helped carve their niche within the broader theme park ecosystem, but the opening of the Galacticoaster in 2026 has caused coaster enthusiasts to have eyes on the US parks for the first time in their long history. Wanting to capitalize on the new attention from a brand new demographic, Legoland San Diego and Legoland Florida have decided to make the bold choice to open two full sized thrill coasters in each park, and that's where you come in!

Lego.jpg

ITTTTTSSS PLAAAAYTIIIMMMEE!!!

PROMPT
For this prompt, teams must select four coaster models and create the first full scale thrill coasters for the Legoland chain.

These coasters should still have some element of theme, and we very much encourage you to use the pre-established Lego IP such as Bionicle, Lego City, Lego Island etc, but you can pretty much go nuts. The emphasis here should be on the thrill and the ride layout.

Here are the six coaster models that are up for grabs. Teams must place four high-thrill coaster models of their choice into the two US parks.

Gerstlauer Infinity
Examples:
TMNT Shellraiser (American Dream Mall), HangTime (Knott's Berry Farm), Defiance (Glenwood Caverns)
A more modern take on the company's Eurofigher model, Infinity coasters are known for their compact footprint, intense vertical lift hills, and holding breaks before beyond vertical drops. While the vertical lift and first drop are usually their signature elements, the layouts still tend to pack a big punch with a satisfying mix of inversions and air time.

B&M Flyer
Examples:
Tatsu (Six Flags Magic Mountain), Manta (SeaWorld Orlando), The Flying Dinosaur (Universal Studios Japan)
This model is one of the most intense on the market, and offers one of the most unique ride experiences. Riders are pulled back from a traditional sitting inverted coaster position onto their stomachs where they hang in a Superman style pose. This held position makes lift hills on these things particularly intense. The best layouts this model has to offer feature a mix of graceful sweeping banked turns, more calm inversions like inline twists, and the signature pretzel roll which plummets riders down into a reverse vertical loop that they take on their stomach. The pretzel roll in particular pulls some of the most intense negative coaster g forces of any ride on the market.

Intamin Blitz
Examples:
Velocicoaster (Islands of Adventure), Cheetah Hunt (Busch Gardens Tampa), Maverick (Cedar Point)
The Intamin Blitz is one of the most popular and versatile models on the market. These coasters are known for their mix of intense launches, thrilling inversions, and aggressive air time. The best Blitz models feature a potent blend of all three.

RMC Hybrid
Examples:
Iron Gwazi (Busch Gardens Tampa), Steel Vengeance (Cedar Point), Lightning Rod (Dollywood)
Rocky Mountain Construction has made a legacy of retrofitting aging wooden coasters into modern steel/wood hybrid masterworks that feature aggressive ejector airtime mixed with unique drawn out inversions. RMC hybrids are traditionally built from the structures of defunct coasters such as Gwazi turning into Iron Gwazi, but in Legoland's case you'll build one from the ground up like how Dollywood constructed Lightning Rod from scratch.

Vekoma Tilt
Examples:
Siren's Curse (Cedar Point), Circuit Breaker (Cotaland), Gravity Max (Lihpao Land)
The latest toy in Vekoma's closet acts as the ultimate gimmick coaster. After ascending a traditional lift hill, riders are held on a long horizontal piece of track that then does a full 90 degree tilt which connects to the coaster's main drop. The rest of the layout for a tilt coaster usually consists of aggressive inversions, but on this ride the titular element is very much the star of the show.

Mack Extreme Spinner
Examples:
Time Traveler (Silver Dollar City), The Ride to Happiness (Plopsaland De Panne)
There's only two Mack Extreme Spinners that exist in the world, but both of them have been massively hyped up by enthusiasts as all time great ride experiences. Extreme spinners feature free spinning cars, launches, and a heavy emphasis on taking inversions from unpredictable angles.

This is an Elimination Round.

A Self-Nominated Project Manager will nominate one player, themself, and the already nominated player from last round (@Half/CartoonHalf/Human or @TheSquirrel) for elimination.

Stanza Music

- Tips & Tricks -
As a team: find your passion and build on it!

–Due Date–
This project is due Sunday, June 7th, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST.

(2:59 AM Vermont Time, 12:59 AM Los Pollos Hermanos Time, 1:59 PM Laotian Time)

Good Luck!

Cool! In fact, I feel inspired to do an entirely different World Showcase featuring none of the original 11 countries! I will feature my interpretations of a few of these (Egypt, Ireland, Greece, Taiwan, and South Korea) but mostly will include countries I like that weren't present in Project 1, namely Thailand, Jordan, Uzbekistan (I swear this isn’t a random choice, you will soon see why I chose to include this otherwise obscure Central Asian country), Peru, Cuba, Indonesia, and Sweden.

Here’s my rough mental layout and what each country has so far for a tagline, a main attraction, a restaurant, and a shop/shopping area. It’s arranged so that each country's placement in relation to the ones to the left and right makes some sense. All the European countries are in one area, as are all the Islamic, Asian, and Latin American countries.

Going counterclockwise from the entrance:

EUROPE:

(Equivalent to Canada in place) 🇸🇪Sweden: Land Of Seafarers (Voyage Through the Nine Realms, a boat ride through the Nine Realms of Norse mythology located in a reconstruction of the Norse Temple At Uppsala, Vasa, a restaurant located inside of a replica of a historical Swedish warship called the Vasa located on the lagoon, and a Swedish coastal town marketplace inspired by Smögen)

(Equivalent to UK) 🇮🇪Ireland: Land Of The Celts (Cycles of the Celts, an epic trackless dark ride through scenes from Celtic mythology located inside of a replica Iron Age hill fort at the back of the pavilion, The Golden Harp, an Irish pub located near the hill fort, and shops selling Irish goods within a replica of the streets of Killarney)

(Equivalent to France) 🇬🇷Greece: Land Of Myths (Tales of Heroes, a show featuring animated scenes from the myths of Heracles and Jason projected onto replica Ancient Greek pottery located within a reconstruction of the Parthenon as it appeared in the 5th century BCE, Symposium, a restaurant themed around Ancient Greek dinner parties located within a recreation of a wealthy Athenian's home from the 5th century BCE, and an open-air agora)

THE MIDDLE EAST:

(Equivalent to Morocco) 🇪🇬Egypt: Land Of The Pyramids (Reflections of Kemet, a dark ride through Ancient Egyptian history and mythology located within a replica of the Great Pyramid of Giza, Cairo Bazaar, a winding, labyrinthine bazaar on the streets leading up to the pyramid, and Sultan's Palace, an Egyptian restaurant in a large Mamluk palace by the entrance to the bazaar)

(Equivalent to Japan) 🇯🇴Jordan: Heartland Of The Nabataeans (A Jordanian souk, Amman Cafe, a Jordanian restaurant by the lagoon inspired by the Red Sea port town of Amman, and a replica of The Treasury at Petra holding Nabataea: Land of Spice and Incense, a walkthrough interactive museum of the Nabataean civilization's role in the ancient spice and incense trade)

ASIA:

(Equivalent to USA) 🇺🇿Uzbekistan: Heart Of The Silk Road (Tales of the Silk Road, a theatrical show in the vein of The American Adventure telling guests folktales from Central Asia, the Middle East, India, and China with a mix of screen based visuals and physical sets held within a replica of Registan Square in Samarkand, and Silk Road Marketplace, an open-air marketplace selling goods and food from Central Asia, the Middle East, India, and China located outside of Tales of the Silk Road)

(Equivalent to Italy) 🇰🇷South Korea: Land Of The Morning Calm (Visions of Han-guk, an interactive exhibit about South Korea's traditional art and architecture, Korean Wonders, a shop selling hanbok and other Korean traditional goods, and Mugunghwa Pavilion, a Korean restaurant all located with a replica of Gyeongbokgung Palace with a lush Korean garden on the outside)

(Equivalent to Germany) 🇹🇼Taiwan: Island Of Beauty (Voyage to the Dragon King's Palace, a boat ride through the underwater kingdom of the Dragon King from Chinese mythology located within a replica of the Longshan Temple, and Jiufen Market, a street market with vendors selling food and Taiwanese goods based on Jiufen's Old Town)

(Equivalent to the African Outpost) 🇹🇭Thailand: Land Of Smiles (A floating market located on the lagoon, Legends of Ayutthaya, a walkthrough based on Thai folklore located within a replica of the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya, and The Royal Table, a Thai restaurant located within a replica of the Royal Palace in Bangkok)

(Equivalent to China) 🇮🇩Indonesia: The Isles Beneath The Winds (The Tale of Rama, a boat ride taking guests through the story of the Ramayana done in the style of traditional Indonesian wayang kulit shadow puppetry with a soundtrack done entirely with gamelan located within a replica of the Goa Gajah temple in Bali, The Equatorial Emerald, a restaurant selling Indonesian cuisine, and Island Market, a shop selling batik cloth, gamelan instruments, and wayang puppets)

LATIN AMERICA:

(Equivalent to Norway) 🇵🇪Peru: Land Of The Inca (A replica of the ruined Inca city of Huanuco Pampa filled with replicas of artifacts found there that guests can explore Andes Bistro, a Peruvian restaurant located inside a mountain, and Inca Market, an open-air marketplace inspired by those in Cusco and Lima)

(Equivalent to Mexico) 🇨🇺Cuba: Nation Of 4,000 Islands (Wondrous Cuba, a boat ride through Cuba's diverse natural landscapes located within a replica of Havana's Presidential Palace, Cafe de la Playa, a Cuban restaurant by the lagoon, and a Havana shopping street)
