So....where should we eat?

Wait, wait, wait, wait...YOU haven't been to Ralph Brennan's?!?!?!

Raven...the darkness is closing in on my vision...I have always thought you were THE authority on everything in and around DLR!!!
But you haven't been to Ralph Brennan's?!?! :arghh:

:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:

I absolutely LOVE Ralph Brennan's and I make a point of going during every visit, if at all possible!

Medallions of Beef with Crawfish mashed potatoes....nuff said! :hungry:
and for Dessert...Double Chocolate Bread Pudding!!! Delectable!!!

Anyhow, you can probably imagine that I highly recommend Ralph Brennan's and suggest you go at the next possible opportunity.

And that's not even mentioning the great entertainment that they have (primarily on weekend nights, if I remember correctly). The jazz/blues band that usually plays is incredible!

Nope. I'm not a table service person. I'm a quick service gal. I've often just gone to In-N-Out for food, even. I'm a college student with loans and fees... Can't be eating at table service all the time lol. I'll get to Brennan's when I can.

You forget that we Disneyland folk care more about the rides than the restaurants, especially table service restaurants. We're not too concerned about dining, but about which rides are recommended and how short or long the lines are.:D

I am trying to do the same with deciding where to eat! I haven't been to DL in about 20 years since I was a little kid(only been there twice) and my wife and kids have never been! We don't really want to do too much dining, not like we do in wdw because we want to make sure we get to do everything in the parks! We have decided on:

Steakhouse 55
Goofys Kitchen
Blue Bayou

Hope those r good choices! We will QS the rest. Usually when we r on vacation we do 2 meals a day and then snacks...

Just got back and tried several newbies again. Our third visit in 4 years and we always eat at one table service restaurant per day. Our favorites:

DCA: Wine Tratorria. Food wise we have had several really nice experiences here. In fairness we haven't tried Carthay Circle. Great views too.

DL: Carnation Cafe is our hands down favorite for its simple comfort food. Burgers, meat loaf, chicken kind of thing. It was a last minute substitution a while back, and now it's a "must do". Second place goes to Cafe Orleans. I have tried Blue Bayou multiple times over the years (people rave about it) but have always found their meals to be good, and served in a wonderful atmosphere, but not worth the price. We still eat there tho.

DTD: I agree with Tortilla Joes. You can't go wrong there. My favorite dining experience in the whole resort is a newer location tho. It's the small restaurant seating area next to Trader SAMs in the DL hotel courtyard. Go at night and you will feel like you are in the south seas. For three years now my family has cited our evening there as their favorite moment of our entire vacation.

Last, if you like Mexican Food give Cafe Rio (located 10 minutes away in Tustin) a try. Okay I work there but it's still good! Lol!

We just got back from our first trip to Disneyland/DCA. Here are some of my thoughts on what we ate....

Carnation Cafe - It was great. Meatloaf was really good.
Tortilla Jo's - We thought it was ok. Nacho's were good and fajitas were nothing special considering how expensive they were ($19).
La Brea Bakery - Sandwiches are good. Steak Salad wasn't very filling.

My husband loves the little walk-up quick serve in New Orleans Square, Royal Street Veranda I think, where you can get gumbo or chowder in a sourdough bowl. We also like the Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA, as a quick-serve. On Main Street, the Carnation Cafe' is a favorite place for breakfast if we didn't catch breakfast at the hotel before departing.

Favorite sit-down: Blue Bayou. For the atmosphere, more than anything!

The Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise are close enough together, but the Dole Whips are in front of the Tiki Room. Bear in mind that there are USUALLY lines on BOTH sides (along the Adventureland walkway, and in the outside waiting area of the Tiki Room), and are often shorter on the Tiki Room side.

In the Parks
Yes
Resorts - Hook's Pointe, PCH Grill, Wine Cellar (Tapas)

Unfortunately, Hook's Pointe no longer exists. It was replaced with Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam's which are also fun.

The Wine Cellar is gone as well, assuming you mean the one that was at the Disneyland Hotel.

Agree with BB and CC. Did both as well, and enjoyed them. Did CC as part of the WOC package. If that is something the OP is interested in

How was it with the WOC package? Since we have never been before, we don't know the best seats for WOc, how early we should get there, if we should get a FP, etc... So I figured doing this might be the easiest way to do it! Do dining package people get to go into the seating area first?

We have never been to DLR before, and were strongly considering changing to WDW due to the many refurbs but my sister can't get any other days off and flight prices to WDW are too expensive now. Soooo we're sticking with DLR. We will make the best of it, even with all those rides down.

Anywho, we're trying out the following restaurants:

Napa Rose for Mom's birthday dinner
Goofy's Kitchen Brunch for character breakfast (we wanted the Plaza Inn but it's going to be closed. So no character breakfast and NO fried chicken! Waahhhhhh!!!)
Naples because we loooooove Via Napoli pizza and its the same owners :)

We're also debating throwing the Carthay Circle WOC lunch in there or possibly switching out Naples from our DLR day to our DCA day and putting another sit down place at DLR in it's place. Any recommendations? I've seen many people mention Carnation Cafe. I'll check out the menu.
