Pre-Trip So this just happened over a game of rummy...And we're going live!

We're back...

Long story short, maybe, a few weeks ago I started a new job that afforded me a 5-day weekend for this fourth of July. The short notice left us with little time to plan a vacation and we have been resigned to a staycation. We had been checking the DVC availability for a few weeks to no avail and even the cash rooms seemed out of the question. We accepted the fact that we would just hang out in North Georgia for a long weekend....until tonight. For whatever reason, maybe it was the Victory Blackboard series no.6 in our glasses, we hammered out a last minute trip to PoP while playing rummy during dinner...what the heck?!?!

The kid informed us that she had the weekend off and I looked to @imahistorygeek and asked if she could be off. Without hesitation she said "for Disney, yes!" About three minutes later and a few internet searches we found that PoP was available for long weekend on the cheap! We pulled the trigger and now in five nights we will return to the bubble....on a whim! Absolutely ZERO has been planned so we will see where things take us. Disney Springs seems to be in the future for the ladies and a few late nights at the parks for the DW and I.

Stay tuned for more and maybe a semi-live TR

Well AH Was ok. I was a bit miffed that they've been out of flight trays since Tuesday and they were just going to put all 6 scoops in one cup! I asked for six cups and they said "no, the most we can give you is two". Anyway, it's ice cream and they made me regret not going to B&C :( The sky is looking menacing but the breeze feels amazing! We're about to do a little shopping before heading to DTD for more shopping and some dinner, maybe the Polite Pig.

After I got back to the room we made for DTD for dinner. I've jonsing for Blaze pizza since it opened but my distaste for the new DTD kept me away. With POP being just around the corner it was too close to pass up. We ended up driving there an I gotta say, their new parking deck is VERY impressive. We were quickly parked and soon closing in on Blaze. For those that are unfamiliar this place allows you to build your own pie or choose from some house specialties. All pizzas are about $9.50 regardless of the number of toppings and you walk down an assembly line similarly to a Subway. There were many toppings, sauces, and cheese options to choose from. What's most amazing is how fast your pizza is ready. Literally 2 minutes after I paid our food was done! These pies were AMAZING and put VN to further shame.

My only complaint is this place needs to learn how to properly spell my name...just saying

Who ordered the pepperoni and pineapple pizza? I need to know which family member is my soul mate :hilarious:

Continuing around hourglass lack we encountered the most interesting flower that looked like a peace symbol.

Almost to our room I noticed an 80s room being refurbed so I snapped this guy.

Now we're at the 80s pool relaxing and even got to witeness the life guard get trained with a surprised mock drowning by plain clothed CMs, very exciting

It looks like a passion flower but the ones I grew up near grew on trees. We used to go hiking in areas where you'd see little signs on the trees telling you not to eat the flowers or it could lead to you getting arrested for bad conduct ;);) but we never came across anyone under the influence, lol

We left the BW and made for DTD again. The kid wanted some new sunglasses from UNIQLO and we had plans to eat dinner there. The shop was pretty neat and had a couple of artists doing water character drawings and origami.

Next we made for the fancy chocolate place, I don't know it begins with a G. The kids got some dark chocolate and the DW got a fancy piece of something.

We walked around a bit more before making our way to another excellent DTD dinner!

What is this DTD place you keep referring too?:D
It's one man' stubbornness....:cautious:

So we made a full circle and found ourselves back at the lime lot entrance where the Polite Pig resides. This place smells amazing. The main menu looks good and the sides are almost better.

The kid went with the fried chicken sandwich with a side of mac n cheese. This is homemade M&C and it was awesome

DW and I shared the Brisket and Shoulder plates. We went with Brussels sprouts and baked beans as our sides, again, some awesome stuff.

Finally, we shared a Cast & Larder porter. Like the food, this home brew was very good. They had about a dozen brews on tap as well as red and white wines, rum and coke, and gin and tonic so there was something for everyone.

You get a 10% discount for DVC so we took advantage of that as well. We'd definitely come back here.

We dropped the DD off at the hotel and are at HS now.

We opted to drive to HS since it's pretty much right around the corner from POP. The parked us way back in music 56 but a tram was waiting for us and soon we were in.
IMG_0168.JPG

We headed for star tours but got distracted by maybe the cutest possible site at HS

The ST's posted 10 minute wait time was on point. After that we made for M3D but not before trying to nab a few construction pics.

No
The flight cups ARE the reason to go to Ample Hills!
We have so many good BBQ joints nearby and are reluctant to try Polite Pig for fear of disappointment ~ is the meat flavorful enough to stand on its own, without sauce?
Just had BBQ in Kansas City (Q39) yesterday and Concordia, MO today. I might move to the Midwest. Check this plate out from Dempsey's earlier today

Yeah... I was kinda p###ed about it and their "whatever I could care less" attitude about it.

It does! I too have plenty of quality BBQ in N Ga and the brisket and shoulder at PP needed nothing but the sauces were excellent with them.

Looks like another great day.
It was! Ended with a great night of drinks at Victoria Falls.

We had a FP for RnR but it was still a ways out and we wanted get a few drinks from VF so we chose the single rider line. About 25ish minutes later and we got to sit together! I chose to pay homage to Steven Tyler before his finger transplant.

As we left RnR the sky cleared up and gave us this gem

We had our full of HS for the night but my DW just could not leave before we checked back in on these guys

We closed out our night by heading to Jambo for a few mixed drinks from Victoria Falls. I had an agave margarita and the DW had a Mt. Killamargarita, or something like that.

While enjoying the ambiance and libations we decided to book an ADR at The Wave tomorrow for dinner. The kid actually suggested the idea and we were happy to oblige!

Time for bed. Tentative plan is to swim somewhere different tomorrow and see what happens!

We're going rogue this morning...any guesses as to where we may be pooling today?

Ahhh, feels like I just left there. And I don't care that it's only 9:45, you should be clutching a cold one. Haha, hope you guys have a great day. Please inhale the lobby for me, and whatever you do....don't fall for the old "we've got your luggage at Bell services" routine, lol.
