Pre-Trip So this just happened over a game of rummy...And we're going live!

We're back...

Long story short, maybe, a few weeks ago I started a new job that afforded me a 5-day weekend for this fourth of July. The short notice left us with little time to plan a vacation and we have been resigned to a staycation. We had been checking the DVC availability for a few weeks to no avail and even the cash rooms seemed out of the question. We accepted the fact that we would just hang out in North Georgia for a long weekend....until tonight. For whatever reason, maybe it was the Victory Blackboard series no.6 in our glasses, we hammered out a last minute trip to PoP while playing rummy during dinner...what the heck?!?!

The kid informed us that she had the weekend off and I looked to @imahistorygeek and asked if she could be off. Without hesitation she said "for Disney, yes!" About three minutes later and a few internet searches we found that PoP was available for long weekend on the cheap! We pulled the trigger and now in five nights we will return to the bubble....on a whim! Absolutely ZERO has been planned so we will see where things take us. Disney Springs seems to be in the future for the ladies and a few late nights at the parks for the DW and I.

Stay tuned for more and maybe a semi-live TR

For those that like dresses...there is a new store in Disney Springs. I cannot remember the name, but it reminds me of the store in Japan. The dress I'm wearing in Space Mountain is from this store. So comfortable AND a built in bra! The prices are great and they have clothes for everyone.

And for those curious about Disney lularoe...I did not buy anything in the collection. :( However, I've seen quite a bit at MK and DS. It's just too hot for leggings.

Ditch the cargo shorts and throw on a princess tank with some shiny shoes and you're golden! :p
I did ditch the cargo shorts this trip!!! I guess it's time to bust out my Mulan tank...

It's a duck convention! Maybe they're staking their spots early for HEA?
There was a mini HEA FP+ entrance so you're probably right...

The store is called UNIQLO.

Use the coffee pot. The heat plate is kinda the same as an electric kettle. It's kinda redneck, but it works

That does work - but if you think that's "kinda redneck", we've used the hair dryer to heat up cups of milk and creamer we keep on ice in the cooler for coffee. (Sure...roll eyes if you must, but it kept the coffee hot a lot longer!)

We may or may not have used aforementioned hair dryer to heat up cold pizza one extremely late night when we were too exhausted to walk from our boondocks-located building to the food court microwave.

It worked surprisingly well...a real MacGyver moment, I tell ya. (For the under 40 crowd, just disregard last line.) :hilarious:

The "generic-azation" (yes I made up that word) of the new Pop rooms is sad. The decades theming was much better IMO. If not for the Mickey heads in the light fixture it could be any room in any town USA.

I know this is going to sound nuts to a lot of people, but my instant first impression was that it looks a lot like a hospital room. (Not counting the disney-themed headboard/lighting fixture of course.)

I don't know what it is - the institutional-looking wood-grain, the stark white walls? I've spent a lot of time in diff hospitals, before my parents passed a couple years back and as soon as I saw these pics, I felt a little sad. o_O

I'm with Tuvalu...other than the coffee pot addition (nice!) and headboard (fun!) I definitely prefer the older look. (I do say I LOVE the queen bed, as we never seem to luck out and get one of the few king beds. ) But I may just keep toting my lil' coffepot and sticking with the retro style while it lasts or spring for moderate on our next trip.

Soon we were in Landacape of Flavor and the first impression was this place is loud and dark! The smells, though, were good.

It was cool seeing the food being cooked and the Tandori ovens.

If I have to describe the food it wouldbe fast food Sanaa. Not as goodas Sanaa but decent. We scored a sweet TiW by saving 20% on lunch too!

Continuing around hourglass lake we encountered the most interesting flower that looked like a peace symbol.

Almost to our room I noticed an 80s room being refurbed so I snapped this guy.

Now we're at the 80s pool relaxing and even got to witeness the life guard get trained with a surprised mock drowning by plain clothed CMs, very exciting
