My first trip ever back in September when it was just my 6 yr old daughter and I was great. Stayed 3 nights at Royal pacific. Upgraded to an annual pass. Had a very nice guy who managed forbidden journey let us go to the front as many times as we wanted (which was 4 over the course of the stay), my 6 yr old got picked for animal actors, and also for the olivanders show. Really felt they went above and beyond for us.

Fast forward to this time- And I now have my wife and 2 yr old coming for the first time. Not a ton for a 2 yr old to do, but she enjoys just looking around. Stayed at the Royal pacific for 2 nights. This time, I made a joke to a very nice team member who was at the grinch show entrance saying "let me know when you need me to be in the vip area". What's he do? Says- "are there 4 of you? Come with me" And escorts us right to it. But the icing on the cake (literally) was at emerils at Royal pacific. I ate there in September with my daughter as a "date" and we met the chef (which my daughter aspires to be). He is a native of Oahu and we talked about Hawaii quite a bit as I have a small environmental lab there with a few employees. When we came this time I asked if he still worked there- he came out- met my wife. Remembered what I ordered, where we sat, and where we were from. Then- after lunch- we get this. Compliments of the chef.

Chef Ryan- you are the best! It's stuff like this that made my wife say "you know our (Disney) trip in January? We could come back here for a couple of nights". Universal is really doing it up right. Love it.

Anybody else had some cool stuff happen at Universal? Thought this would be a good thread to hear about some stories. I've had luck with "magic" at Disney- and while both are unwarranted, unexpected, and completely genuine- I feel like Universal cares just that much more. Almost as if they're more sincere because they really value your business.

Note- Tchoup Chop is incredible. Consistently my best meal at universal. Only Jiko rivals it IMO- although ETC is half the price and includes a free appetizer. :D

Well I have been at a function in IOA after hours with a full bar and great food. Place was the Explorers Club. All it takes is money to reserve.

I love the RPR, many great nights there with the excellent service and food. Gee I don't think I needed to make reservations 60 days in advance either. Wonder how they can do that?

I think you are mistaken, you must have been at Disney, because only Disney does magical stuff like this. ;)

Funnily enough, I experienced this last week myself. I took my 6-year-old niece for the first time with some friends who I visit the parks with regularly and I was so impressed by how they treated her so wonderfully. We got to ride again on Escape From Gringotts thanks to a lovely team member (her favorite ride at the resort), they would rig the carnival games so that she would win and give her the prize anyway, let her design her own stroller rental name card, etc. Some really special moments during her first visit and she did NOT want to leave the parks.

That's fantastic! I had some very nice interactions while staying at Royal Pacific (nothing I can recall in detail right now) but I LOVe the dinner and atmosphere at Tchoup Chop- my fave restaurant in Orlando- wish I could go there more often.

Please let them know at guest services, they really try to give you a special experience when you pay your money to attend their park.
I agree- I still do the old fashioned thank you note when we've had an exceptional experience, they shouldn't just hear complaints! I ALWAYS find myself writing to UOR after each stay. I'm so excited to stay at RPR next week- first time.

Please report on eve after your trip. I might go next year if you say it is not a total madhouse. I'm sure you will enjoy RPR - I did

My father and I had Christmas Dinner at Thcoup Chop tonight. It was awesome. They had a special Christmas menu. 3 courses for $49. I had lobster bisque, filet with crawfish mac and cheese, and caramel filled crepes.

Yes please let them know how special they made you and your daughter feel. Universal Team Members have done a 180 from years ago. The training program has been redeveloped and is truly top notch.
