So the crane at Tower..

Last day at the parks was yesterday and for about 3 hours Tower was closed. They were telling people it was technical difficulties, but the whole time they had the crane over various parts of the building doing something on the roof.

I noticed the first day I was at MGM that the movements of the elevator from scene was delayed by a few seconds with us waiting in the dark after the first scene with the hallway for about 10 seconds...followed by the same in the drop shaft. It helped in freaking out the people who were already even more.

I also noticed Timekeeper closed on the second day I went to parks, wish I had gone to it the first day. All the parks were great, I'm going to post a trip report later or tommorow talking about all the good things and bad (only a few) things that happened during the trip.

I noticed the crane too. I don't know what it was for. The pausing happens quite often though, so I doubt it had to do with the crane.

My dad was back at POP relaxing so my mom and I just waited next to the Fastpass at TOT while the cast members and two high up's explained the situation to visitors. For some reason this is always fun because of the things guests say sometimes. It's also entertaining to watch the cast member repeat the same thing 75 times, why not have a sign for stuff like this that will at least reduce the amount of questions.

Right after the ride opened we got two quick stand-by rides and one fastpass. Out of my 5 rides, 3 were the fake ending and the other two were similar to eachother for the most part.

They could have a slogan though... "The same cake being served since 1939"...
It could be chocolate cake so it would still look dark and foreboding...

Sounds like TOT may have suffered some minor roof damage during Charley and they were just fixing it. I doubt this would be reason for the ride to close, so that was probably due to technical difficulties.

I guess I thought the two were connected because the ride came back on about 2 minutes after the crane was moved away from the building and back to the ground. Nonetheless the ride re-opened with no problems and the ride was great as usual.

Does anybody know how many sequences they have to ToT now. My guess was three, the fake ending(where they hold you at the bottom for about 5 seconds and show you the hotel ghosts, then shoot you back up) the one where they shoot you up first, and they drop you pretty good. And this other one where it drops you first, but its more like a bounce rather than drops.

Thanks

There are 4 (Tower of Terror 4).

1 of them is the original

1 of them has the ghosts on the exit screen

1 of them has the window on the exit screen

the last has ghost figures in the middle of the shaft illuminated by a blue strobe light.

Tower of Terror has 4 drop sequences. Scroll down to see.

Anyway, you can see on the chart that the 2nd and 3rd sequences have the false endings. One shows a window breaking and the other shows the group I believe.

Sounds like a utility crane kept on site for just that 'type' of problem. Especially if they took it back down to the ground afterwards.

VEERRRRRRY interesting! Thanks!

They probably closed the ride while the crane was in use just in case the crane fell or something. It's always better to be on the safe side especially in today's sue-happy society.

I've only ridden ToT once and had my eyes closed most of the time because I was too scared. I have no idea which sequence I rode. I am trying to overcome my fear of heights/falling, so on my next trip, I might just have to try the immersion therapy (ride it over and over and over and over......:hurl:
