Did anyone notice the drawings and models they showed during the parade of the Expedition Everest train cars? It looked as though the engine car was going to have 2 rows of seats in it. Anyone else see that?
I saw it...I thought that was interesting. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I was really looking forward to seeing the parade, but the viewers didn't get to see too much of it. I understand they need to keep part of the parade for the guests to just see, but I really wanted to see a little more. (Sorry about that, I know it's been discussed, but I just got on the board a few minutes ago and have been dying since Sat. to say that!)

Bottom line is love, like or hate it, everyone here WATCHED it, and that was the goal.

Well not exactly. I taped it. And through the power of fast forward i was able to shrink the event down to less than one hour. I did skip over alot of the musical artists. If you're going to be on a Christmas special, at least sing Christmas songs. I would've liked to have seen more of the Christmas festivities around all the parks (Paris and Tokyo included).

One thing I did notice: Was Mariah performance on a different day than the parade? I noticed during the parade, that the large gold Christmas trees that surrounded Mariah did not show up during the parade. I also noticed that the crowd watching her sing was standing on the pavement.

CD The "parade/show" was taped over three days, Dec. 3,4 and 5. As is with filming, parade sequences and performances were in no sequence. With Friday and Saturday AM being rather chilly (but bright), Sunday being warmer, Saturday PM being windy and colder and more overcast, you may notice some big jumps in continuity...although it is amazing how well they can put these things together.

Also, I agree, I like the idea of Christmas songs and activities on a Christmas special.

Of course, we can all over analyze EVERY little detail of the parade, but I agree that we do that because we are Disney fanatics, and not your "everyday" viewer. Maybe we should change our perspectives and just watch the parade in a simple, childlike manner; enjoying it for what it is--fun and entertaining. BTW: I wonder how many of the "anti-commercialism" folks ordered their free Disney plannning video as a result of the watching the show??? :)

I was there on 12/4 and was surprised about how little of the footage that was shot that day (John Stamos, The Incredibles, etc....) was actually used.
4 Hours or so of filming narrowed down to about 2 minutes. Ahhh... the magic of television....

Happy New Year Everyone!

Lets face it, we all still watched it to get our Disney fix, we will watch it next year....bottom line, bad Disney is better than no Disney. Bring on those green army men!

Uh - actually I watched it because I was in bed with a 101.5º fever that day. You try finding something remotely entertaining on at 1pm on Christmas day! :brick:

I still stand by what I said pages back - the best part of the whole show was the undoubtably live commerical break with the skyway cars running over the 20K lagoon.

I mean come on - who ever let that one slip??

You really saw pretty much the entire parade - just cut and spaced out between all the other "stuff" they had on the show. They didn't hide anything to make you come see it in person and I don't believe they ever have.

Me too!! I had to watch it after the family dinner and paused
the tape to make sure that was him. Was that Tiffani standing
next to him with the Tigger hat on?

Ahh, but Montu

What you and others out there need to understand is that Disney is a business. Like it or not, their goal at the end of the day, is to create revenue. To drive sales, thru integrated marketing, commercials, emails, etc. etc.,etc. I assure you they are not the ONLY company out there using Christmas as an opportunity to make money. Again, I will say that there will always be those out here who will find fault with Disney NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO. I don't agree with everything they do either. But in my original post on this thread, I mentioned how I KNEW that someone would start this thread either while watching the parade, or just after. Yes, they didn't own ABC when the parade first aired. And while they may not have had to pay for the commercial time, they most CERTAINLY would have had to pay ABC for the airtime of the telecast itself. Within that contract would lay the agreements for any/all commercial air time. I know this because the retailer I work for, a major retailer in the industry in which I work, does the same thing. Any time that we air any type of "special" or are "part" of a special, we also work out financial obligations regarding our "right" as it were, to air commercials marketing our company.

Again, nothing in life is free. To think that Disney would have been able to air this, not having already owned ABC, without a major hit from the hip, is naive(spelled right?).

In the end, Disney did a great job with the parade, and let the nay-sayers find something else to nit-pick about. Lord knows they'll find SOMETHING to complain about.
