I was lucky enough to make a quick spur of the moment stop at Epcot today for a few hours. I had a wonderful time and just wanted to drop some updates for anyone who cares. So I arrived around 4:30pm just in time for my fastpass to Spaceship Earth although I didn't even need it as they weren't terribly busy.
It was a nice day out, a bit chilly in the evening but not too bad.
Spaceship Earth seemed to be in great condition for the most part. I didn't see any AAs not working and I could smell Rome burning better than in recent trips (early December). The only things I've noticed is at the very beginning it seemed a bit too bright and revealed too much curtains but I think this has been an issue since they changed it back in 2007 so I'm not too upset over that but would love it if they could ever make it darker again. Once you pass the camera it's pretty much total immersion. Again nothing wrong here but I was thinking that it'd be really cool to see the International Space Station added to the space scene. If I'm not mistaken there was a satellite there years ago.
As I passed into Future World I thought it looked great overall the Fountain of Nations went off a few times and looked spectacular.
I got a chance to get on the Seas with Nemo and Friends. It appeared that everything was working well there as well. I saw the scary light fish AA working for the first time in awhile. The only thing here that I noticed is the scene with Crush the projections could use a little touching up but I wouldn't say it was in terrible shape.
I spent a lot of time just walking around and taking in the atmosphere and that was very nice. After awhile I decided to hit the single rider line for Test Track. Beforehand, I went to the design studio at the post show and designed a vehicle to see if it'd work on the ride and it did.
As for the ride itself, I noticed that the first "test" was the only one that ranked the vehicles in our particular car. The rest of them were either blank or ranking a set of designs from another car. Everything else was Test Track as usual, still had a blast on it.
After that I spent some time strolling World Showcase not too much to report on there. I did notice that on the bridge between Future World and World Showcase that there were walls up on the west side behind the large planter. Not sure what they're working on here but if I had to guess just general maintenance on the path. Nothing much to report on in terms of Norway/Frozen. After making the full circle I decided to head back out on the monorail and did a Roundtrip just in time to catch Illuminations as the monorail passed through the park. I spent the rest of the evening at the Monorail station exit watching the end of the show.
Overall, it was a very pleasant evening and I'm glad I was able to make it out there. I see a lot of general negativity towards Epcot lately and I understand that it may not be as unique and grand as it once was but it's far from "falling apart" in my opinion. I spent a lot of time people watching as I strolled through the park and mostly everyone seemed to be having a great time. Kids were taking in the sights, families taking pictures and I overheard a lot of talk about attractions that people enjoyed while standing in lines. That's all I'll say on that. Room for improvement, most definitely. Desolate wasteland, not even close. Thanks for reading and feel free to discuss your thoughts.
