No disney does not 'demand' you carry your ticket at all times - that doesn't mean Disney is limited in what they can do.

That was the exact point of my last 2 posts. It's not against "Disney Law" to not have your ticket with you while traversing a theme park..... And they can always revert to the "for any reason at all" clause.

The whole point is - they are not going to enforce this in that way. They are not planning on kicking anyone out for violating the no smoking policy - unless someone gets absolutely belligerent.

100% agree.

Some of the nicest and most sociable people I’ve ever met have been in smoking areas. Perhaps we are gathered and have something in common, feel alienated and by virtue feel unity. Where else do get like minded people the chance to socialise? Most others just push past each other in a rush to their next objective whether ride or food.

I’ve befriended people from pretty much every state in the US & Canada, the latter being some of the most fantastic and respectful people I’ve ever met.

I recall sitting outside Wildnerness Lodge with a coffee and a smoke in the morning, in a dressing gown talking to people about last night and the day ahead. And then outside the DVC pool at Beach Club late at night with a beer, playing pool putting the world to right with people I never knew before but who are now friends.

That was the Magical part. Can’t charge for that.

Maybe they were being nice to you because you were creeping them out, and they figured they can smile and nod for as long as it takes to finish their smoke.

I have too. In fact, we'd often bump into the same handful of people at the resort smoking area - it was really nice.

It's a strange, world, yes. I find the most interesting, adventuresome people.
But think, we have to time to actually talk, we don't just nod and go on. We're having coffee and smoke with someone, the same way you do with a friend in an outdoor cafe.
I got some great vacation ideas from people in those areas.

It would be awful for those that propose a strong police force should find themselves on the wrong side of the park patrol, for whatever reason. There are more rules that can be broken then smoking. I think we should all look at this through a wider lens.
Even RobesPierre found himself of the wrong side of his own justice.

Us too. I dont smoke my dh does. My sons still talk about sitting at the dock playing checkers when dad smoked (mk/near tom Sawyer island) and behind space mountain. We have met so many people... we would have never if we were not forced to stop and take a break.

Me too! A major part of my holiday is meeting other people! I am worried what this change will do to the social aspect! I have some great memories of puting the world to rights with smokers, in the DSA! I am sad that those days have gone!

I got to meet so many wonderful people, from different backgrounds, cultures, Countries! It is what I will miss the Most!

It's not "Disney Law" but failing to prove your valid theme park entry could lead to more significant issues. Disney could engage the police to investigate for suspicion of trespassing or breaking and entering. Point being, your physical presence grants you nothing. Just like a store can ask for a receipt of something you are carrying.. or take action... even tho no one 'requires' you keep receipts. It's not some requirement that it be spelled out before someone can engage or prejudice against you.

The whole "I'll just play coy" thing was never a viable defense.

I've smoked twice in my entire life. But I'll start conversations with people on line, and they'll start 'em with me. Or waiting on parades or fireworks. On the buses. There are plenty of occasions where Disney kind of forces you to slow down and be patient. Being at WDW, you have one major thing in common already. There are still opportunities to be social with strangers.

It took me a while to figure out you're referencing something from several pages back. And it would depend on the situation.

If I'm approached by custodial and it's the first offense.......it might.
If I'm approached by suits......it might not (and I probably wouldn't try it in that case).

I've got pretty good situational awareness.

We take every opportunity to be social with other guests.

In the DSA you are generally with like-minded people. In lines etc. You are with the people that you have little in common with - the self-privileged, ‘stick up the brigade’, if you will!

Occasionally you will meet a good one!
