Skyliner Expansion to the AK area (maybe onwards?)

Surely I can’t be the only one that believes a Skyliner route could possibly be installed between AKL, Animal Kingdom, and Coronado springs. Both resorts mentioned, and Animal kingdom, all suffer from a lack of transportation. AKL is just about the only deluxe resort without an alternative form of transportation and I consistently see complaints about Coronado’s bus loop. I believe this could greatly benefit the stress on busses in that region of WDW and the quality of visitors transportation experience.( Side note)With Coronado springs being somewhat of a midpoint between HS and AK I could see it serving as a possible skyliner hub like Caribbean Beach.

It is the only Deluxe and Coronado is also the only moderate without a non-bus option.

Skyliner from AKL would be tricky I think but skyliner from Coronado would work I think if they wanted to do that.

I don't think they would ever consider doing this unless they could loop in at least one more resort for it, and there's not really a good candidate given the spacing of things.

I think we will see an expansion of Skyliner at some point.
Is the sense that the installed one now is problematic false? I guess it could be…

It’s disrupted by lighting threat almost daily it seems and that will only get worse.

Anything around DAK would have to connect at boardwalk for it to be viable…but what is it really serving? Two locations doesn’t seem all that useful. Gonna bring in all stars? You’d have to…

Also…the main reason they built the thing was to slap a dvc at Caribbean and put price increases on the “values”…the net effect wouldn’t be the same at DAK…

You put blizzard in there? They don’t we’ve really want to run that.

I think a property wide network not involving a 1965 built choo choo would be great…just not sure the gondolas are the feasible way to try to get there?

Spitballing.

Yes would love that. Lack of transportation is the number one reason we don’t want to stay in AKL. To at least connect to AK would be a huge improvement.

It is a straight line - but it would not be a pretty ride. It still boggles my mind they haven’t fixed the visual of the entrance at the bus stop though so maybe they don’t care.

Ideally - the transportation system would be able to make a second stop at DVC as well. A skyliner would not easily be able to do that.

I don't think they will add an another transportation extension without DVC funding it. Just think, they totally skipped extending the monorail on the new Poly and Lakeshore is just getting a ferry to MK.

It's strange they don't consider it, as it does help them charge more at Pop than the other values. Same with Caribbean vs the moderates.

My gut feeling is they still need to have contingent bus force, who just sort of wait around or do extra routes just in case the skyliner is down. It's not the most operationally sound or cost effective.

Still having a way to get from AKL to AK without a bus is my dream. They have no need to do it so I don't see it ever getting done unless they build a new DVC building near Kidani or Jambo.

I don't think connecting to just one park would make such a line a valuable ROI. I think it only becomes interesting if you can connect DAKL->DAK-> Blizzard Beach ->Coronado -> DHS (and from there, connection to the rest of the line). But if you are connecting to Blizzard Beach, I think you have to do a spur to AllStar as well. I think you run into an issue of how many times you would ask guests to transfer. Right now, at most, you only need one transfer to get to anywhere on the Skyliner. It's simple, it's fast, and even grandma can easily figure out where to go. You start introducing a bunch of transfer stations and that both increases the complexity of getting around and increases time to get around.

To take it in a straight line it would have to be from the back of the parking lot at Jambo either to the back of the parking lot at AK or across the entire parking lot at AK.

And the entire operating costs falls on AKL. Which would mean maintenance fees for DVC owners rocketing.

I don’t see it happening.
You could go from the bus stop at jambo to the DAK bus loop in a straight like I think.

There could also be more to it than that

But the other issue is more simple: there’s not enough people in DAKL to make thus worth staffing and running
I don’t think skyliner is the right answer - mostly because you want something that can connect to Kidani as well.

I’m not sure what the numbers need to look like to make it “worth” staffing.
