Just one small question: Can you wear sandals on the slides at Typhoon Lagoon? Was planning on bringing waterproof strap-on sandals, but was told by someone that they only allow watersocks?

So many details!!!!!:hammer:

Ooh! AN actual question I can answer.
The reason they say "Only watersocks" is because sandals have buckles. The majority of sandals do at least. They don't want any metal objects that could scratch, pierce, or puncture a float, ride or another person. So a pair of water sandals that had velcro only may be okay, but I don't think they can have a big sole on them.

We wore our slip-on water shoes on almost everything last May. The exception was the Humunga Kowabunga. They got sent down on their own and I followed them shortly thereafter. My family likes wearing shoes since they paths can be hot and/or messy given the number of trees and bushes. Have a good trip.

Yeah on water slide a few years ago I was told that my water shoes had to go down the slide before me and that I could meet up with them later :) The reason he told me was that they had traction soles (so you don't slip and break your neck) but on the slides if you put your foot down you could cause traction and actually get seriously hurt (i.e. flipping out).
I would wear water shoes, no sandals! You'll probably run into problems with them. But I would wear something, the sidewalks are so hot! Have fun!

Yes, we were told that anything with a buckle on it, or some other protruberance that could catch, was out for the slides. We wore rubber flip-flops (the real cheapies!) walking around, and just left them behind when we entered the water. No one ever touched our stuff.:)

I have water shoes and understand the traction concern, but what is a water sock? I may be interested in those for our May trip cause of the concrete. Can someone post a link?

I'm sure you have seen them. They are mesh on the top with rubber traction on the bottom.

Here is picture of some water socks, but you can pick them up at Kmart or Walmart for very cheap!

Ohhhh... that's what I thought a water shoe was, hmmm. Now I'm confused. But it's ok, I appreciate it.

Isn't the traction what causes the problem on the slides?

I went down with my water shoes over my hands.

you really dont even need shoes at the water parks!!!!!! But if its a must then you can always hold your sandals on the rides.....i dont ever wear anything around......the floor isnt hot and they are a pain to lug (sp?) around
