Since Disney is bean counter oriented with a keen eye on the bottom line. I suggest a prudent move would be for TWDC to divest itself of SD. Disney is a minority partner in SD so sell off the small part Disney owns to the Chinese holding company (basically the Chinese government but who is looking) make a clear announcement globally that Disney has NO park in Shanghai and walk away. China can operate it as an amusement park (if they ever decide to open it) it just will not be an official Disney Park. Time to move on.

One area that Disney will never divest is business w/ China ( look to see where one's merchandise is made ).

Even if they wanted to do this (and they don't), they couldn't. Disney can't just pick up their toys and go home; they're in a legal relationship with the park majority owner. Shanghai Disney Resort has been a massive success, even with covid closures, which will stop eventually. Disney has little assumption of risk here anyway as a minority owner.

I agree with what you say (no Disney cannot just walk away now) except the massive success part, understood many want it to be a massive success but the reality is it exists on a low to moderate level.
