September vs October trip thoughts

Been away for a few years letting my daughter do our trip planning for the fam. Planning to surprise my wife with a two of us only trip this fall. Plan on looking at staying at either Beach Club or Boardwalk. We like being close to World Showcase for evening dinner and stroll.
I need to know about events and celebrations those months that would make the crowds bigger and avoid that as much as possible. We can go any time during the week (retired) and will avoid many rides that will require standing in long lines. Mostly, it's a time to enjoy the parks and dining at a slower pace than allowed with kids and grands. My first trip was in 1973 with my parents and I'm guessing I'm somewhere around 20 visits since then. Thanks for any suggestions or tips.

In both, September and October, EPCOT has Food and Wine Festival which is included in your ticket purchase, it is a nice time so stroll around WS and enjoy a variety of things. You can look up the concert series to see if there is a specific performer you may want to catch, some will draw in bigger crowds than others, non concert days will usually have the lighter crowds. Then there is also the Mickey Not So Scary Halloween Party at MK on select days in September and October, that is a separately priced ticket event. Beware, MK closes very early on those days to accommodate the party. I find October to be a little more popular and busier then September, so September is one of our favorite months at the park. During the week typically has less crowds than the weekends for these months. Sometimes Disney will have great sales in September for off peak season, just avoid labor day weekend.

That's great information, thank you. Do you know where I can find information on the concert series? One more thing, do the hotels list their daily rates by month on a chart I could view. Thanks again!

I don't know of any resources for day-by-day pricing on rooms. I think that if you call Disney booking, they may be able to help, or you can play with their online reservations by trying different dates. Others here on the forum may know of something. Also, if you have a Disney+ subscription, check your perks page for discounts. perks.disneyplus.com Log in with your disney+ account to see perks/discounts.

Both Sept and Oct crowds have changed over time. Depending on what promotions get available, how many people pull the kids from school, the weather forecast, can vary crowd numbers. The good thing about EP is generally because of the size of the park it spreads out people and doesn't seem as crowded as other parks. The F&W festival will draw in more locals on the Fri, Sat, Sun days. Weather can be unpredictable with possibilities of downpours from lingering tropical storms. The MNSSHP event evenings will transition guests from MK to the other parks. If you are interested in the concert it's worth getting the dining package to ensure you get seating. Depending on who is playing can determine how quickly the seats go. The most popular rides will constantly have longer rides. Gettin LL's for them to ensure you get on with lesser in line wait time is worth buying.
This site and all the other Dis fan sites will give you lists of events and what goes on in the parks and around property by month to month listings. If you haven gone in a while you should pick up the WDW Unofficial Guide book and inform yourself about the many changes that have taken place.
