Sept vs Oct 2020

We are tentatively planning a trip in September or October 2020. I have been to WDW once in October but that was back in 2015. I have been two other times but they were both in May. We would be going either Sept 14 or Oct 26th and would just like opinions from all you seasoned veterans on which you think would be better. I guess I’m concerned partially about the weather in Sept but not sure which time would be better crowd wise. Are there any events during these times that I may not be thinking of? Our trip will be for 10 days.

September is way better from a crowd perspective, but it’s going to be quite a bit hotter, in my experience. Plan for midday breaks to avoid the worst of the heat/humidity.

October is not the slow season it used to be. It’s actually a pretty popular time of year to go nowadays.

The weather is always a roll of the dice as the hurricane season runs until December. Food and Wine historically runs from August until November so you've got that to toss into the mix as well which packs the Epcot area resorts.

Both dates will have Halloween parties and Food and Wine Festival.

September 10-15 is literally the absolute peak of hurricane season for the area.

Late October is gonna be CROWDED.

If it were me I'd choose mid September.

Both are terrible times and you shouldn't go! (Said the person who has done both months the last 5 years) ;)

Others have said and it is true that there really isn't a 'slow' season like it was in the 80's/90's. September has been the best in terms of crowd size but you do roll the dice with heat or potential weather (3 years ago we barely missed having to deal with a hurricane and last year in October we caught bands of the tropical storm that went through).

As we do the Halloween party I much prefer September as the cost is a little cheaper, you may snag a deal and you don't get the additional crowds from people who are in school districts that have fall breaks. The upside to the end of October is the chance I think to see the Halloween to Holiday change over that is pretty cool.

DW hates the rainy weather and some Sep trips weve gotten it while others we avoided the drenching storms. We do prefer Oct more because you are that much farther from chances of bad weather. We have had friends whose trips were greatly affected due to hurricanes and associated storms in Sept. The Halloween atmosphere just works better IMHO in October. Weve fought the crowds in both months , no longer a benefit if you are looking for low crowd weeks. For those reasons and better odds for a more pleasant time, I'd rather chance an Oct trip.

Very well said! I've been in both months, and now go regularly in September. I find the F&W booths are MUCH less crowded, and since I live in an area of the country hotter than Orlando, the heat there doesn't bother me.
