Security Lines

anyone have a feel for how bad the lines are now to get in to the parks\how long is the wait?
just at opening or pretty much all day?
only MK that is having long lines?
trying to see if it's worth just booking a before hours breakfast at each park to try and avoid the long lines.

thanks
Carl

I wouldn't book an early breakfast every day just to avoid the security lines. At the opening they tend to be very crowded. The best way to deal with them is to go to the park without a bag or stroller. Those are the lines that slow you down the most. The next step is to watch the security people in the second tier that are doing their "random" metal detector checks... slow your walk so that you don't get within 5 feet of one that is looking for their next "random" check. I try to target one that is just picking out a random guest and head for the side of them furthest from the metal detectors because they will generally turn in that direction briefly to make sure the guest is going the right way, that is when you quickly move out of their line of site... Then all you will have to deal with are the ticket gates.

Was just there for 5 days and never waited in a security line. However, we aren't morning people. We never go till after lunch.

You do get long lines early morning because guests are targeting the more popular rides. Early magic hours also attract resort guests. Everybody's trying to get in and get more done before crowds build and the day gets hotter. All the parks have long morning lines, MK is the more popular park so the crowds are higher. The lines do lessen as the day goes on but you lose out on the ability to do more because the parks fill up. I've had days where security checks went very fast and I was in the parks in 5 minutes and other days its been a 15 minute wait or more. Scan the lines and see which guard is being faster with their checks and you can get in quicker.

I've always had good lucking using the scan which one is going faster when I use it in a supermarket or store... but I'll be darned if half the time I've employed it at a Disney gate they don't end up changing out the security guard well before I get there to one that insists on checking every nook and cranny of every bag.... If I'm doing a bag check line at Disney I'm almost tempted to look for the slowest line and go to it just because it will likely get a new guard that will be faster by the time I get half way there.

Thanks for the replies. I had seen that after some of the recent incidents the lines were over an hour to get in the parks in the morning. I'm used to the normal wait to get and can handle that. Just wanted to avoid them if it was going to be crazy.
