Its been a while since ive heard anyhting about the 2nd phase that sits semibuilt and dromant. I dont see them finishing them anytime soon with the economy the way it is. Has anyone heard any news about their future? Would it be cheaper fo Disney to tear them down instead of finishing them?

Do a thread search for "Animation Inn". There was some discussion a couple months ago on possible movement forward on finishing the other half as a non-Pop Century themed Value resort with rooms and suites, as well as the possible re-branding of the existing Pop Century into the same "Animation Inn & Suites".

I thought they were going to rent out the rooms as they are now. "Ultra Value Resort" : Disney's The Last Resort.

Hasn't that half of Pop stayed vacant for years now? If they were going to do something pop-related to it, don't you think they would have done it by now? I guess a new overall theme and increased attention to the resort might be a good enough reason to do the other half, but what is attendance like? Is it really necessary?

A CM who works at PC said the Animation Inn idea has been scrapped, but didn't mention the possibility of finishing Legendary Years anytime soon. It's a shame too - every since PC was announced, my husband has wanted to stay in the 1900 section. Hopefully it will happen....someday .

Like all CM news, this should be taken with a grain of salt.

If they were going to use the buildings for the same type of room then I can say with near certainty that bulldozing what is there would be significantly more expensive than starting over. However, if the floor plans of what is there does not match whatever possible new plans they have then starting over may be an option.

The structures that are currently built are either protected from the elements, or the open structures are just the concrete shells with some mechanicals in place. It appears to me that they purposely stopped the construction at a point where things would not be damaged easily if the buildings sat for an extended period of time.

i'm not exactly sure what they're doing.
but i've stayed in pop century every time ive been to disney since the resort opened, and lemme tell you thats a lot of times. and the buildings for the other resorts have just been sitting there.
so i've also been wondering if they're gonna tear them down.

Its interesting that they have just let them stay there untouched for sometime. I would not want my guests seeing products that aren't finished for years on end. That would be like them stopping on DCA right now and not seeing it thru.

I wish they would finish this. They could make it a special hotel for D23 members! HAHA

I'm no engineer, but I would guess that a half-finished building sitting the Florida elements for years would (unfortunately) need to be demolished.

I like the idea of a set of D23 Suites - you should get something good for your $75 per year, aside from 4 cool magazines :ROFLOL:

Picture from the old thread. Lovely.

Maybe they could move the Leave a Legacy tombstones over there to complement the look of the place.
