We just returned from a glorious week in Sago Cay. The building reopened after its refurbishment on June 1 and we were the first guests to stay in our room
. The redo is simply beautiful, and every time we walked into the building we experienced that "new carpet smell."
We also had a theme park view room. Those rooms are on the far end of the building where Sago is 4 stories high (the mid-section has 5 stories.) We wanted an upper floor and requested 3rd. We did not want the 4th floor as those are dormer rooms. Some folks like the high ceilings (and sense of greater space) of a dormer room, but we like sitting out on the balcony and having unobstructed views from inside the room. Dormer rooms have enclosed balconies, so you need to stand (rather than sit) on them in order to see the view.
We watched the fireworks every night from the balcony. You can hear the soundtrack from the MK, only it is a bit delayed as the sound travels across the water. You can also hear other noises from the MK ~ the train whistle, music from the parades, even the wolf howling from the Haunted Mansion! It is also fun to watch all the activity around the lake, from the monorails to the watercraft.
We were not able to see the entire Electrical Water Pageant (on the lagoon) from our balcony, just the serpent and the whale (first 4 barges). If you want to see the whole thing, you need to go to the marina area or boat dock.
Nightly turndown service was a wonderful treat and the Belgian chocolates left on the pillow were delish!
We utilized the main pool rather than the beach pool, as it was a closer walk from Sago. Note that if you get the refillable mugs, you cannot have them refilled at the main pool ~ the beach pool has the refill machine (as does Gasparilla's, the quick serve location just steps from Sago.)
You can order food from both pool bars, but you can only get the amazing chicken salad on a Brioche roll from the beach pool bar
.
There is a path to the bus stop between Sago and the main building so you don't need to walk all the way through the lobby and out the front door to catch a bus.
When visiting the MK, we rode the monorail there and took the boat back. The boat stops at GF first before going to Poly. So you can ride the boat to MK, just know it will go to the Poly first.
There is also a path between GF and the Poly which is a delightful walk in the cool of the evening.
Very jealous that you get to stay for 3 weeks! We certainly could have stayed much longer.
