I wonder why the switch? Could it be super low crowds projected between easter and the race, hoping for slightly cooler weather for the 10 miler, or perhaps refurb schedule factors. Maybe they want to open Tropical Americas the following week or there is some unannounced refurb coming at that time. Have you heard any information about the this @DznyGrlSD ?

I don't know for sure but my guess would be some sort of ops thing. Maybe an event they need ESPN for or park ops changing something. It always comes down to money. One week difference isn't going to be for weather.

Challenge was 58 minutes 10K was 70 minutes.

Nice to see these aren’t selling out in seconds anymore, I did my first rundisney 5k in 2013 (after seeing a banner ad online) and signed up the same day, it wasn’t release day, wasn’t 9am on the dot… I saw an ad, clicked it, and was taken to the website and thought it looked fun. That impulsive act was the beginning of my decade+ long running phase.

Disney probably isn’t thrilled the demand has gone down but I think it’s good for the running community (and RD) as a whole that more new people will get to experience this and be enticed to lace up.

I still miss doing the RD races but after 75 or so of them the cons now outweigh the pros for me, I’ve seen all the backstage areas, the prices are a bit crazy, and most importantly those 3am alarms simply sting more than they used to. Makes me happy my absence means someone else will get to experience the thrill of seeing the parks in a way 99.9% won’t though, it truly is a special experience.

Demand has not gone down. This was the fastest Springtime sellout ever. Springtime typically struggles because the weekend moves around and is in the spring break period where people have finite vacation time.

Every race sold out within 103 minutes. Typically some of the races have fastest days or even months for Springtime.
