Like I’ve said before, take everything I spread with a grain of salt just in case the source I have isn’t as true as could possibly be, but I’ve been told that “Cars”was possible.
I had heard Cars too. That was back when Race Academy was being built. IIRC plans were to demolish RNRC to make room

Sorry to bump this thread. Just wanted to point out all artists use autotune. Used properly, you'd NEVER know it was happening. But, there hasn't been an artist on the top 40 in the last 20 years that isn't using it. Now, other artists use autotune as an effect. In that case, it can be really annoying. You can go back to the 90's and hear Cher using it as an effect in, If I Could Turn Back Time. In there, it was pretty impressive, IMO.

If I could Turn Back Time was released in 1989. Artists were not using autotune in the 80s - as most of them were still recording to tape then....

I think the song you meant to say was Cher's song, "Believe" - which was released in 1998. Believe made significant use of autotune as both a pitch correcting tool and one of the first to use it as an actual effect on the vocal track.

So... a classic act with a decades-long catalog of albums and hits vs. a flash in the pan who will be forgotten within 2 years. I know which one my money is on. (Hint: it’s on the one Disney doesn’t have to spend money on)

Hello everyone!

My friend is an insider who works for Walt Disney World in Florida. My friend has reported to me that imagineers have been working to retheme the Rock n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith at Disney's Hollywood Studios for a while, as Aerosmith is no longer as popular a band with as much mass appeal as it was at the time of the rides' debut in 1999. There have been a few ideas proposed, such as retheming the ride to one of various Pixar properties such as the door vaulter scene in Monsters, Inc. or the Incredibles. Many people who work for disney are proponents of the less expensive but still rather enduring concept of keeping the ride's current unique theme as a roller coaster themed to music, but switching out the featured musical act. Such plans have been in a state of general possibility for over a decade by now, during which time several artists (such as Paramore, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and - for a brief period in 2010 - the cast of glee) have been proposed and contacted for the idea, although plans have never yet gone as far into the realm beyond the drawing board as they currently are.

Unless you have been living under a rock during the year 2021, you must be aware of ascendant pop icon Olivia Rodrigo. In a span of months, she has racked 2 Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles (the transcendent power ballad drivers license and pop-rock explosion good 4 u), which happens to be one more than Aerosmith have accrued in their decades-long career. Her debut studio album Sour, which was released on May 21, has held the highest US sales of any album in a week of this year with almost 300,000 units. Not only is her music extremely commercially successful, it is also very good (this is obviously subjective, but I like her music and so do most people I have talked to as well as critics). In genre, her music can be best described as at the center of a three way venn diagram between levitating bedroom balladry, unkempt psychadelic grunge, and uptempo pop-rock, although perhaps more instrumental to her musics success than the production is the lyrics and themes. She sings with honesty, specificity, and humor, conveying the abstract pangs of angst and heartbreak as a vivid image of the rebellion and sadness of youth.

In fact, Rodrigo has shined so brightly in the past few months it has been easy to forget the fact that she is a Disney Channel star like Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez before her, having starred in Bizaardvark and currently starring in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. In fact, my insider friend has reported that Disney is trying to negotiate a contract with Rodrigo to allow the licensing of her solo music (which has been released by the label Geffen Records, the same label that has worked with Aerosmith) in the ride currently known as Rock n Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, as well as to film an all-new pre-show starring Olivia herself. The plan is for the track layout to stay roughly the same, although plans have been thrown around for the space between the ride’s loading area and launch to be extended, accommodating for a new, slow-moving dark ride scene built around Rodrigo’s deceptively gentle but extremely powerful signature track drivers license. The more intense parts of the ride will be soundtracked by higher-octane tracks by Rodrigo such as brutal, deja vu, and good 4 u.

So, what do you think of these rumors? Would you like to see Aerosmith replaced with Olivia Rodrigo? Would you be sad to see Aerosmith go?
I guess ive been living under a rock, although im pretty up on my music. The real fix for this is change the aerosmith scene to an orchestra and have the music be music from classic movies (either change them up or snippets from different songs) random songs would be amazing though not sure how plausible "which song will we get this time!!!"

or more dream, replace the aerosmith scene with the sherman brothers working on their next song, and have the music be sherman brothers music. Timeless and they deserve it.

I think you're thinking of Cher's Believe, which used autotune as a significant audial FX. (Not that her other songs didn't use autotune for light touch-ups.)

Well since this is now the "Name Your Choice to Replace Aerosmith" thread:

1. Guardians. Since DHS's ToT isn't going to get Guardians, then put them in RnRC. There's already a set of rockin' tunes licensed to be used, and GotG sells merch.

2. Incredibles. Do to RnRC what they did to the wooden coaster at DCA. And Incredibles sells merch.

Now, I know there are better ideas that don't leverage established Disney IP, but, you know Disney will limit the replacement to established IP. So...

Doesn't own the rights to the music? aI would think they would purpose-write the score to fit the ride layout anyway...

They don't have rights to the movie's intellectual property. I think it is still owned by Spielberg. Or he would have to approve it. Something like that has been posted on these boards. Not to mention negotiating the ip rights in an era when the studios are in such a competitive environment. Likely impossible.

Of course, I never thought Disney could own pixar, marvel and star wars.

I didn't even bother to correct that part - we all knew it when we heard it. It used a ton of it and was almost unrecognizable in that song. It's the one sone of hers I won't listen to because of it.
Anyone for Rush?
Roll the bones ;)

I love Rush, but they're not going to re-theme the coaster to a band who's members are already around 70 (Aerosmith's band members were 50 'ish at the time) and no longer togethe partially/largely because a key member of the trio has passed away.
I see you're letting the Iron Maiden comment stand unchecked.

It was sarcasm

Saw Rush in the mid 1980s. Neil the drummer strapped on his drumming chair drumming upside down! RIP.
