I was hoping to see what people think of Rose and Crown in Epcot?? I read you can eat outside and watch Illuminations. I tried to book Le Cellier and it is all booked!

We really enjoy Rose and Crown. Most years we visit it twice. You can't always get an outside seat around Illuminations, but there is a special area where guest sitting indoors can go and stand and get a great upfront view.

We really enjoy the lamb barley soup, fish and chips, and the sticky toffee pudding.

Never did like the Rose and Crown, maybe this is because I am from the UK and reminds me to much of home (lousy service, average food) or maybe its because there is so many more exotic choices around World Showcase.

We only ate in there once and this was back in 2000 I think. The waitress was not particularly helpful and everything seemed to be a chore.

The only reason I would return is to grab a pint of Guiness.

We've always loved Rose and Crown. Never tried it til maybe 2 years ago, and now it's a must do each trip. :)

Sticky toffee pudding is like a little bit of heaven. :dazzle:

You obviously went on an off day - we've been twice before and can't fault the place. Going again this August :slurp:

We've always enjoyed it there. They have really good hot tea. Of course, that is fine in December, it might not be as great in July!

We always like the Rose & Crown. In addition I particularly like stopping in the pub for a pint while everyone waits for illuminations.

We ate there for the first time last fall and really enjoyed it. They asked us upon check in if we wanted to sit outside (I believe we went at 5pm) so we did. The food was good. I liked the shepard's pie and my husband and son liked the fish and chips.

It's possible to get sit on one of the terraces for Illuminations, but don't count on being able to. It's probably one of the most popular viewing spots so spaces disappear quickly (if you're up for it, prepare to stake a claim as much as an hour and a half to two hours before the show). Also, people frequently book the terraces for private events during Illuminations and you will be politely asked to move when they begin to set up.

This is DEFINATELY my favourite place to eat at Disney. We hit it up at least once when we're there!
I have to agree with an earlier comment about their Sheppard's Pie.... SO good!
And I'll also ditto the getting a seat on the terrace for Illuminations. We were lucky enough one year to get a seat for the show, but we had to get there about two hours before (since you can't reserve those tables and just have to wait for a free one) , and spend a crazy amount of money on food, cause we didn't want to keep the table and just sit there. It was fun tho.....

What I would recommend, however, is eating at The Rose and Crown, and then heading over to the area in front of the Italy pavillion (roughly 45 min before the show).... I think it's one of the prettiest areas in Epcot at night, and definately my favourite area to watch Illuminations from!!!!

Just my opinion tho ;)

I like Rose and Crown. Love the bangers and mash, but if you don't like cabbage ask for it without the squeak! There is a English pub nearby and there food isn't as good as Rose and Crown.

R&C rocks, but please can I ask that nobody shouts at the greeter  or your seater  if they can't get you an outside table for Illuminations. As has been said before we have a VIP viewing area right in front of the restaurant where we will escort our inside seated guests to! :sohappy:

Most guests understand it is impossible for us to seat every party outside but there are a few who don't seem to understand this simple concept :brick:

We ate at Rose and Crown for the first time Sat night (party of 6, 3 old couples, Chris was our server). We really enjoyed it. We each ordered something different and all loved our choices. I had the Cottage Pie (shepherd's pie) which was delicious, but I ate part of my hubby's steak and fish. It was some of the best steak I'd ever had, and he enjoyed it too. However, it was more well done than he really likes, but it was perfect for me.

Two of the guys tried the Imperial Sampler of beers - 5 6oz glasses of a variety (Bass, Guinness, Harp, and two others I can't remember). None of us regularly drink beer - the ladies disliked most of them and the guys liked two or three. This was only $10 and would have been enough for all 6 to get tastes of each.

For dessert we had the Guiness chocolate cake and the sticky toffee pudding - all very yummy.

As for seating, our reservation was at 6:20 and we were seated in a perfect spot for Illuminations, but we finished and were very nicely escorted out before Illuminations. Not that we wanted to stay - we had a couple of fast passes left for Test Track and Soarin', so we hadn't planned to stick around for the show. But just so you'll know, don't plan to park there for hours waiting for the show. That wouldn't be right and they won't let you do it.

With so many other choices we had never considered this restaurant a must do, but we were very pleasantly surprised and would happily eat there again.

I enjoyed Rose and Crown this year (my first time eating there) but I probably won't go back. The food was good, but there's a wonderful Irish restaurant in Destin, FL where I live that's food is twice as good as what they had there so it was kind of a letdown compared to McGuires.

It wasn't bad though, I'd just rather be able to get something that doesn't compare to somewhere else when I'm there. I'm not sure what we'll try next though. I love Mexican food, but you can get that anywhere. Maybe the French, Italian, or Japanese place.
