I'm just a few days away from my next trip and I haven't seen much around room upgrades at check in. I did do the pre-check in online does that lock you into your room? Has Disney moved away from providing upgrades?
The vast majority of upgrades are because a room needs to be taken out of service for repairs etc. And if you ask for one they will be only too happy to sell you one for the full rack rate!
There is no trick to getting an upgrade. The occupancy rate is too high for much scope for them.
yep...not doing online check in...opens up some opportunities. And that car straight from the front desk upon check in....when we get our free upgrades..I think online check-in does lock you in a bit because it seems that they will give you the first room that is available. I am also going to Disney in a week. On my last trip we split between the Beach Club and the Wilderness lodge. At the Beach club I did online check in and received a basic room with a garden view. That's what we paid for. At the Wilderness Lodge, I checked in when we got there. I paid for a standard room and the front desk gave us a corner room with a view of the courtyard, geyser and boat dock. Not bad for a standard view room.
Shocking coming from the guy that doesn't tip lolWe almost always get a free upgrade. You just have to ask. I highly suggest NOT doing online check in. Just check in like normal. And ask! We have never paid for a preferred room. Ever.
