Trip Report Romano Family Let's Vlog Yacht Club Trip Report

Hello all. My son and daughter really wanted to create a Vlog of our trip. So my wife and I said sure. The players were me (43) my wife MB (35), my son Angelo (6) and my daughter Joey (5). We were also meeting my neice Isabel and her boyfriend Conor who would be crossing over with us for 3 days. We would be staying at the Yacht Club for 6 nights.

DAY 1: Our flight left Chicago at 7:30 a.m. on time, but weather in Orlando caused us to circle the airport for about 40 minutes. Eventually they totally closed the Orlando airport and we got diverted to Tampa. On the way to Tampa, the pilot said we would have an easier time getting back in the air if we went to Sarasota. We eventually landed there and stayed about an hour before getting back in the air and landing in Orlando. We took the fake magical express and checked into the Yacht Club where we had an amazing view of the pool and lagoon. Eventually we met up with my niece and her bf and got to do Soarin, Test Track, Figment, and Remy before heading back to the hotel. The link for day 1 is posted below:

Day 2: This was Father's Day and we were going to Hollywood Studios. My son had told me that my Father's day present was clothes, so I was hoping it was something I could wear to the parks. My wife knocked it out of the park with a Dadlorian Star Wars shirt.

We headed to the boat that would take us to Hollywood Studios around 10. My wife and I are both teachers and after this school year, we needed to have a less hectic Disney Trip, so we wouldn't be rope dropping. However, I did get Lightning Lane.

I had also discovered, this morning, that I forgot to pack underwear. Seriously! And they sold no men's underwear in the Yacht Club gift shop. They had little boys, little girls, adult womens, but no mens. So my plan was to hopefully find some boxers in Hollywood Studios and then order a 5 pack on Amazon.

My niece texted that they had just arrived so we would meet at Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. I like this ride. It's cute. But I always find myself missing the Great Movie Ride. I have such nostalgic memories thinking about it. I'm all for progress, but I still think they shouldn't "fix" things that aren't broken.

After Mickey and Minnie, we headed to Star Tours. This was my niece's boyfriend, Conor's first time at Disney. It was a lot of fun being with someone that was experiencing things for the first time. Star Tours, in my opinion, was better than ever! I had all scenes I had never seen before and it was great seeing the hologram of Lando! Also, my niece got to be the rebel spy, which was fun. Plus the kids both loved this ride, which didn't happen often.

After Star Tours we watched the Muppet Movie. That is one movie I wouldn't mind them fixing. Everything, the building, the seats, the references, the movie, is extremely dated. The kids liked it, but didn't want to see it again when we came back later in the week.

Next we were headed to Rock n Rollercoaster. My son had never done it before and he was excited yo give it a try. Unfortunately, it was down when we got there. So we figured we'd check out Lightning McQueen. On the way we stopped to get a cream cheese pretzel which my wife and I love. This particular stand also had a jalepeno cheese pretzel. We got ine of each and split them. We loved both of them.

The Lightning Show is fun, but the real star is that Lightning Mcqueen animatronic. Amazing.

We took a bathroom break and reapplied some sunscreen and luckily Rock N Rollercoaster opened back up. We decided to just jump in the Standby Line because they had already given us a Ride Redemption fastpass since it was closed during our time. This way, we could bank that fastpass and use it on another ride. It had probably been 5 years or more since my wife and I did R&R. It was so much fun. Angelo handled it well but at the end decided it was a little too fast for him.

Next we went over to Tower of Terror. Or Tower of Terry, as my daughter calls it. The first time we went on it, at one point in the line she said "where's Terry?". Lol!
This is the one ride that Angelo doesn't like. He really can't express what it is that scares him. He reluctantly came on. Joey loved it, but Ang vowed not to do it again.

To be continued...

Day 2 continued.

After Tower of Terror, we headed to Galaxy's Edge to ride the Milenium Falcoln. We used the extra fastpass we had obtained when R&R was down to get right on. Interesting tip, we had a single rider since my niece Isabel doesn't ride this one, and he said he basically came right up to ride. So if you don't care about riding with strangers, single rider is great for this ride.

When we came out of Smuggler's Run, a scene was developing befor our eyes. Rey and Chewbacca were running around the Millenium Falcoln hiding from Stormtroopers. It was such a cool touch. The Stormtroopers were asking all the kids if they had seen them.

We headed out of Star Wars land and made our way to the Toy Story area. We had a Lightning Lane for Toy Story Mania and then a lunch reservation at the new BBQ restaurant.

At Toy Story Mania. I took on Conor, the rookie. I told him some, but not all of my secrets and was able to beat him 170,000 to 150,000. But my niece Isabel beat us all with 190,000.

After the ride we perused the gift shop. We decided that we would give the kids gift cards this year with money that they earned from doing chores the whole year. This worked great! They really thought hard about what to buy and knew that when the gift card ran out, they were dine with suvineers. Angelo made his first purchase here when he got himself a Luxo jr. Ball.

We then walked over to the BBQ restaurant and checked in. Our reservation was for 3:20, and we checked in about 10 minutes early. We ended up waiting till about 3:40.

The restaurant was really good and our waitress was excellent. They bring out 3 different salads, and a basket of meat including ribs, brisket, chicken, and sausage. You get to choose 4 sides as well. We picked steamed vegetables, mac n cheese, loaded tater tots, and fried pickles. Then, at the end, they have a couple of desserts to choose from. The chocolate silk moose I got was my favorite dessert of the trip. At one point during the meal an alarm goes off and everyone yells that Andy's coming. You here Andy's voice and then everyone freezes for like 10 seconds. It was really fun.

When we got out of lunch, it was perfect timing for our Slinky Dog Lightning Lane. Slinky is the favorite ride of both of my kids. My wife and I got to go together because the kids wanted to go with Isabel and Conor.

After Slinky we doubled back for our last ride of the day. Rise of the Resistance. This is my favorite ride at Disney. I love how there are so many different parts to it. Unfortunately l, the ride was totally in B mode. But we still enjoyed it. When we got in the first transport shuttle, there were really no effects. It didn't move much at all. Then we got to the Stormtrooper hanger and there was no cast member yelling at us to move along. I ended up lingering a little and taking some selfies.

On the ride itself, the Kylo Renn animatronic scene with the smashed window didn't happen. Instead they had an alternate scene where he is in a ship on the screen. It is still great, but I told Conor, who was riding it for the first time, that it can be even better when it's fully functional.

At this point, we decided to head back to the hotel to get in some pool time. As we left the park we realized that with the overcast skies and a good breeze, it was a good opportunity to walk back to the hotel instead of waiting for the boat. It was a very pleasant walk, and on the way back we stopped at the Boardwalk gift shop where they sell the candy that you can fill up yourself in little bags. I always get a big bag of chocolate covered peanuts. They are soooooo good.

We ended the day with some pool time and caught the Epcot fireworks which we could amazingly see from our hotel balcony.

Day 3 up next: Our first day at Magic Kingdom, and our first ride on Tron!
