Day 2 continued.
After Tower of Terror, we headed to Galaxy's Edge to ride the Milenium Falcoln. We used the extra fastpass we had obtained when R&R was down to get right on. Interesting tip, we had a single rider since my niece Isabel doesn't ride this one, and he said he basically came right up to ride. So if you don't care about riding with strangers, single rider is great for this ride.
When we came out of Smuggler's Run, a scene was developing befor our eyes. Rey and Chewbacca were running around the Millenium Falcoln hiding from Stormtroopers. It was such a cool touch. The Stormtroopers were asking all the kids if they had seen them.
We headed out of Star Wars land and made our way to the Toy Story area. We had a Lightning Lane for Toy Story Mania and then a lunch reservation at the new BBQ restaurant.
At Toy Story Mania. I took on Conor, the rookie. I told him some, but not all of my secrets and was able to beat him 170,000 to 150,000. But my niece Isabel beat us all with 190,000.
After the ride we perused the gift shop. We decided that we would give the kids gift cards this year with money that they earned from doing chores the whole year. This worked great! They really thought hard about what to buy and knew that when the gift card ran out, they were dine with suvineers. Angelo made his first purchase here when he got himself a Luxo jr. Ball.
We then walked over to the BBQ restaurant and checked in. Our reservation was for 3:20, and we checked in about 10 minutes early. We ended up waiting till about 3:40.
The restaurant was really good and our waitress was excellent. They bring out 3 different salads, and a basket of meat including ribs, brisket, chicken, and sausage. You get to choose 4 sides as well. We picked steamed vegetables, mac n cheese, loaded tater tots, and fried pickles. Then, at the end, they have a couple of desserts to choose from. The chocolate silk moose I got was my favorite dessert of the trip. At one point during the meal an alarm goes off and everyone yells that Andy's coming. You here Andy's voice and then everyone freezes for like 10 seconds. It was really fun.
When we got out of lunch, it was perfect timing for our Slinky Dog Lightning Lane. Slinky is the favorite ride of both of my kids. My wife and I got to go together because the kids wanted to go with Isabel and Conor.
After Slinky we doubled back for our last ride of the day. Rise of the Resistance. This is my favorite ride at Disney. I love how there are so many different parts to it. Unfortunately l, the ride was totally in B mode. But we still enjoyed it. When we got in the first transport shuttle, there were really no effects. It didn't move much at all. Then we got to the Stormtrooper hanger and there was no cast member yelling at us to move along. I ended up lingering a little and taking some selfies.
On the ride itself, the Kylo Renn animatronic scene with the smashed window didn't happen. Instead they had an alternate scene where he is in a ship on the screen. It is still great, but I told Conor, who was riding it for the first time, that it can be even better when it's fully functional.
At this point, we decided to head back to the hotel to get in some pool time. As we left the park we realized that with the overcast skies and a good breeze, it was a good opportunity to walk back to the hotel instead of waiting for the boat. It was a very pleasant walk, and on the way back we stopped at the Boardwalk gift shop where they sell the candy that you can fill up yourself in little bags. I always get a big bag of chocolate covered peanuts. They are soooooo good.
We ended the day with some pool time and caught the Epcot fireworks which we could amazingly see from our hotel balcony.
Day 3 up next: Our first day at Magic Kingdom, and our first ride on Tron!
