Riviera resort open for booking

My thinking is they may make less of them available to customers off the street and reserve them as bonuses to current dvc members to encourage people to buy the newer properties. They kind of do this already by not really promoting current costs for points for say AKL on the website, instead limiting it to Copper Creek

I thought AK was fully sold.

Hope this is correct....

I believe the rental of DVC resort rooms to the general public comes from the 3% hold back Florida statute requires. As a DVC owner, I can rent a DVC room either with points or cash. The availability of cash comes from owners in that property using their points for RCI or DCL cruises. I think I got that right.

Yeah, they dont advertise the older points at all. I believe when I bought in, they stated only Copper Creek and Poly was available. But when they noticed my hesitation, they offered me OKW and AKL. Cause I wasnt paying 190 dollars for copper creek and I was so glad I didnt due to the overselling of low points that happened.

Wow, not gonna tell you what I paid for my points in CC....

Same happened when I looked into it last year, I think AKL was being offered around 150 a point or so. I still went resale.

I believe I paid 135pp for my OKW contract that was 43 years left. So I was happy with that as I love OKW. Sure, higher than resale, but I didnt have to deal with getting a smallish contract. Pretty much everything resale was 200 to 300 points. I just wanted around 125.

I paid $125pp for my 200 in BR. I was also offered OKW & SSR, but preferred WL.

And you get the perks of direct ownership. I was trying to justify it too, but I really wanted AKL and I paid with fees etc included around 108 per point for 160 and the contract was fully loaded, with current past and future year points. I had 3 months to figure out what to do with the 2017 points and ended up sticking into RCI which while it gets a bum rap on here, I have to say I did pretty well. A week in Vail at a 1 bedroom in mid February seems pretty good value to me for the points! (I will have to see what the place looks like like lol)

I'm DVC. Not gotten word yet on what the purchase price per point will be. But I'm thinking close to $190?

Not impressed at all. Does Riviera Beach have a separate entrance or will guests enter via CBR? Imagine looking down from your $800 night room at the buildings at CBR.

Think DVC will have a hard time selling this resort.

Own entrance. Completely separate.

And they’ll have no problems selling the resort.

As for these prices, remember these are cash rates for mid December, when SW:GE will be open. Already studios are hard to book anywhere, all resorts are seeing good bookings. In emails and info on the DVC site, they are actively suggesting owners book for cash now. There could be peo0le booking and then cancelling once points bookings open up.

I assume you mean WL, not AKL?

Unless you're purchasing a resale, you can't buy into BR. At least that's what I was told when I inquired about buying more points. So it makes sense to not promote that resort. From what my salesman told me a while back, the only resorts with availability that's not a resale are CC, Poly and Aulani.

I saw that. I've got no interest in either booking a cash room or buying into this resort.

Resale is usually used to mean buying not from Disney, because of th e limitations to perks that come from buying resale.

Which means the point of your post is confusing. ;)

You can buy any resort from Disney, and you are a direct buyer. Some resorts have a waitlist, others do not and it depends on who you speak to and when.

CCV and Aulani are the only resorts that are not sold out. So points are still readily available. But it is still possible to buy points at any other resort, which is why they publish prices for them.

I meant resale through DVC, not a 3rd party. My contracts at BR were obviously that type as my 200 points were split between 2 contracts. If I wanted more points in BR, I'd go on the waitlist, hoping someone would sell their contract back to Disney.

So Poly is finally sold out. The last time I inquired about more points, they were still available without going on a waitlist. I bought when DVC was running a special for current owners, just like when I bought in CC.
