Checking to see if anyone knows any alternate viewing locations for ROL other than the stadium seating or standing locations.

Didn't know if there were any good spots to see at least part of the show? We're only going to be in AK for a very short time and don't want to spend a huge chunk of our evening waiting in line...rather just get a "taste" of the show (sort of like walking around during illuminations) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

To piggyback on this, I'm having a rough time securing FP+ for this. So, how early does one need to arrive to get a seat in the stand-by section?

For anyone who may be working on a reply to this request, a color coded "map" of the viewing areas/alternate viewing areas could be most helpful! I know I've seen other maps for other shows where they color code the map to indicate anywhere you can view a show and use different colors to indicate the best viewing ares, good viewing areas, poorer viewing areas, and obstructed viewing areas. Such a map would be most helpful!

I saw this last night and can say that you'll be able to see parts of the show from all ends of the "river", it comes down to how important certain aspects of the show are to you. It's designed for those in the seating locations, so if you watch it from outside that location, it won't be quite the same, in terms of having everything properly centered, which the show does rely on a bit.

The best location is the bridge between Dinoland and Asia, in my opinion. I'm not sure if they'll let you wait there or not though as I recall hearing its reserved for standby over flow. Another very good location is in Asia, before you reach the theater areas. You can still see a great portion of the show from that spot. I'd guess there's an area on the Dinoland end as well that has some good views. There were lots people watching from these areas last night and for a while, they'll be very crowded.

The line for standby was going strong hours before the show (they did have two shows, I watched the first one). Keep in mind, it's new so crowds are likely to go down as people experience the show. It's a great show, but certainly not delivering the reaction that would necessitate losing hours of your day, so people have left it saying negative things. I think people will walk away saying better things when they don't all try to cram it in all at the same time and it becomes more routine.

Flame Tree....You get to see the Backside of Water: The Show.....Plus the benefit of Cushioned seating....And heck you can get your meal and watch there for you very own dining package....

In reality, other than the backdrop missing and the color blobs on the big screens, this location allows you to see a good portion of the show. Heck, I think the Shaman and animal floats may spend more time closer to Flame Tree than the theater seats (only slightly joking!).

Honestly, though, the show's main draw for me is the music and it's very lacking unless you're right there in the theater. You can hear elements of the show and the music all over the place, but for the proper surround effect nothing beats the theater seating.
