rides & attractions with 9 month old

I have gotten conflicting answers to what my 9 month old can and cannot partake in while in the world. What I am looking for is whether I have to use the kid swap option (poorly named for a destination that has to attract a huge number of deviants) or can they ride on our lap. Or option 3, yell hold this as I throw the baby at a cm and ride splash.

1. POTC
2. it's a small world
3. SSE
4. Kilimanjaro Safari
5. Peter Pans Flight
6. Great Movie Ride

Just about everything else I can think of are no Brainerd like splash and thunder mountain. On those I will go with the aforementioned option 3.

Unless the ride has a height/age restriction, infants and toddlers can ride with an adult.

Now whether or not you should take a 9 month old onto every ride, that's a decision for you to make. Based on your list, I would think there is no issue at all with it's a small world. Peter Pan is also fairly low key, but you do have a bar that comes down in your seat that may cause an issue for holding the child. Spaceship Earth and Great Movie Ride are both slow moving rides with no lap bar, but are dark and loud in places, so there is the potential fright factor. Kilimanjaro Safaris is bumpy, so if you decide to ride that one with your child, ask to sit towards the front of the truck, which is more stable. The back few rows can really have you bouncing around. Pirates has no lap bar, but is dark and you have the drop to contend with, and again there is the fright factor to consider.

Don't forget Dumbo, Aladdin's carpets, Triceratop Spin.
Use "Baby Swap" which is like a fast pass for Mom & Dad to be able to ride Splash & Thunder. Splash has a nice shaded play area for the little ones while you wait! Just ask a CM- when you get off, then hubby can go right on!:D
The Carousel has a place to sit w/ a baby. Winnie the Pooh is a nice ride too (some dark moments though, but not too bad). The Jungle Cruise should be OK too.
Living w/ The Land boat ride & the Mexico boat rides are fine. The Seas w/ Nemo & friends might be fine as well.:)
Enjoy- if all else fails, enjoy the atmosphere & the characters/parades.:D

You also cannot have child in lap on Safari, they have to sit on thier own.
We took DS at 8 mo, we only took him to MK and he went on EVERYTHING with out height requirement. He slept thru Haunted Mansion I think because it was so cool inside.

We're taking our daughter when she turns 1, and she is a tiny little thing. She's 9 months now, and we took her to a local theme park where she wasn't allowed on anything. The rules there are that they have to be able to sit & stand, which she can, but they still turned her away from everything (even with me on it with her.) I've researched Disney quite a bit to make sure we'll be okay there, and the general concensus was that if there's no height requirements, you can take a baby on.

I think we're skipping Pirates & Great Movie Ride, just out of fear that since they are slow & indoors that she might scream the whole time. I'm on the fence about the safari. I didn't know they had to sit on their own, so I might have to skip that as my daughter I know will want to be held. I'm sure nobody on the safari wants a screaming kid the whole time, ha. Some of them you just have to use your judgement on when you arrive, and decide if your child will do ok. Have fun! :)

We took DD on all of these when she was 6 months old and we didn't have any problems with her. We just kept her on a lap. I did take a bottle and a pacifier with me on the rides. One interesting thing I noticed was she was often staring kinda in awe. I think there was enough going on for her that it kept her interest.
Good luck! Have fun!

You should be okay with the TTA also, as well as The Land boat ride, the Mexico boat ride and Seas with Nemo if you like those. Imagination is another one I can think of and the Backlot Tour at DHS. Hmmm still thinking of some more...

I've had my babies in my lap when riding the safari- three different babies (one was just 7 weeks old) on three different occasions-- never was told by a CM that they couldn't ride. We just had to ride in the first row because of less jostling.

We took my 7 month old on all those rides with the exception of The Great Movie Ride. I wore a baby wrap by Moby. There are also baby carriers like Babybjorn. I found this made it very easy to walk through the queues as well as keeping the baby secure against me during the rides. Of course, the baby was facing forward.

Its been a while since I was on the great movie ride but I think you all make a good point. I am thinking specifically to the alien scene. So scratch that one. Thanks.

We're going next month with our 7 month old and going on everything but the few with height restrictions.

Here:
http://kingdommagictravel.com/disneyworld/theme_parks/height_restrictions.htm

is a list of restricted rides. If its not on that list and you're babe is up for it, ride away!

Buzz Lightyear has no restriction and I've heard of babies who loved it (depends a lot on your baby and their temperaments) same with HM, Winnie the Pooh.

When my wife and I suprised her parents on Christmas '09 with a July '10 trip to WDW (driving with our camper to FW), we were in the midst of adopting our 2nd child. Needless to say, we went with an additional lil person. She was 3 mos. Old and was on SSE, POTC, HM, basically anything without height restrictions. BTW, she fell asleep in HM! Enjoy

As someone else mentioned, unless there is height restrictions, then they can sit on your lap. For example, we saw a dad carrying an infant onto Dinosaur, and the cast member stopped him and said that the baby could not go on the ride. He got into an argument with her saying that the baby would sit on his lap. She said that didn't matter and he couldn't get on. He tried to get past her and onto the ride and she and 3 other cast members stopped him and he was escorted out. Dinosaur has a height restriction and due to loud noises and jerking, kids under a certain size can't ride. Anything that doesn't have the height restrictions, go for it! I see someone else posted the link to the list so I won't repeat that post.
