It's not new, but I don't know how long they have been doing this. I know that it's two table service credits, or $70 something for adults, but I am thinking it would be worth it to try. I think it starts at 7:30pm, and goes until Illuminations starts and you have dessert there.
For dinner, I believe that they have a food buffet that includes food from five countries in the world showcase, along with chicken fingers, mac & cheese & fries for the kids. I think you get a photo op with Minnie & Goofy too. Then you are given a pin and escorted to the special viewing of Illuminations.
I think we are going to try it. I'll try almost anything once. :ROFLOL:
I would love to read more reviews!!
We also like to try new things when we go to WDW!
You are correct with your summary of the reception. The food features dishes from world showcase restaurants. I can't remember everything but some of the food included cheese soup from Canada, pasta from Italy, chicken from Morocco, tofu fried rice from Japan, some kind of veg dish from China, Mix veg from Mexico, fish from England, beef from France, pork from Germany, salad, and bread. The children's buffet included pb&j, mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, corn, apples w/carmel, and I think carrots and celery. There were 11 of us and everyone loved the food.
Auntie Roz entertained everyone. She announced all of the celebrations, had story time with the kids, introduced the special guests (Minnie and Pluto) and and had a little dance party. The kids loved dancing with the characters.
The kids were able to get autographs and pictures with the characters. We were even able to get a group photo with the characters. This was the only time on our vacation we were able to get all 11 of us together for a photo:sohappy:
We were given pins to wear for the dessert reception and they escorted us to a prime location to watch Illuminations. I believe it was in the Showcase Plaza area. This location alone was worth the money to us
The dessert offerings were plentiful... fresh fruit, cupcakes, cookies, and numerous baked goods. I can't really remember everything. I have to eat gluten free so they prepared a special dessert plate for me. Coffee, tea, lemonade, and water were also provided.
My son (7) ate so much that he ended up getting sick (this NEVER happened before). My husband was able to get him the the bathroom in enough time. Unfortunately, they missed Illuminations
.
We would definitely do this again!!! Please let me know if you have any other questions .
