The thing Iger was unquestionably best at was crafting his image. Now that the facade is gone we’re seeing the mess.

I would assume Murdoch said “take care of this, and I’ll take care of you later, when you enter the political arena…” Womp Womp…except joe passed him over.

It was just for access to international cable/steam markets, no? Streaming was everyone’s darling 5 years ago on Wall Street. Now it’s starting to turn.

Yes, and it has a propeller on top, too…iger is trying to reconcile his political future, after it all went up in flames.

I always thought iger’s political aspirations were overstated.

Not that he’s not interested…he just doesn’t have the drive for it. I think he revels in the “savior complex”…which Disney sycophants have lauded on him for 10+ years (they’re wrong…he’s just a guy in an overblown economy…not a “saviour”)…

Politics wouldn’t be that for him. He’d be ripped apart/get negative press no matter what. Opponents with an axe to grind would say he ran a greedy corporation that exploits children.

Probably, but he looks at Disney as his empire, and a stepping off point to his political ambitions. Does he have the stomach? Idk, but the Imagine Tomorrow scheme is definitely influenced by him.

I guarantee he is consulting in the back ground behind this whole woke non sense, and little Bobby is like dad.

Well he’s wrong…he’s just a guy who has some skill and a lot of luck as it turned out.

Even the most ardent Iger-ites around here have softened these last couple of year as the results/flaws have become more apparent and less subtle.

I think he has major skill for back-room politicking,. That is great as a Fortune 500 CEO interacting with other extremely powerful people trying to get complex deals done but much different than the skills need for a mass political campaign. I wouldn't think his style has much appeal to the average person though. He's a pretty boring person with not a lot of charisma.

I think he’s excellent at that…navigating the snake pits of Hollywood and Wall Street.

His sense of tangible/consumer product is not good. Tons of longterm mistakes there…

Capable lieutenants are the way to solve that. They were severely deficient in that realm.

Hopefully they'll still do this, but with just Animals and Pocahontas as the theming. I totally didn't like the idea of putting in a Tiana Restaurant. It seemed forced because they are doing an attraction for her. Give her a restaurant at either Port Orleans instead.

I hope they remove Pocahontas. They lost me there. Definitely not what should be used as a major focal point of the theming. Animals totally fine though.

Why not just an expansion of the Wilderness outpost setting...Like a small town in the Pacific Northwest...full of charm, beautiful grounds and water features... all without the uber-modern vibe...something meant to blend seamlessly with the Fort Wilderness area and charming...not Marriott-like... Something uniquely Disney...

Yeah, Disney's original plans for the area were much better. It would have looked like a western town.

Just as much as Wall-E did. Honestly I really hope that they never use her in any major fashion in a resort. The animals from Pocahontas yes, but that version is just wrong as a centerpiece IMO and hope Disney understands why.
