Reason for the extreme refurbs/additions?

why all the rehabs? Cause it's about f__________g time they start fixing the things they've neglected for so long.

And the reverend says, "CAN I GET AN AMEN??" "AMEN!!!!" Like others have posted, it's the fact that so many people hate the current Disney regime, and showed it at the last shareholder meeting, that has forced them to face the fact they have to spend money to make money.

If disney had different food items at each resturaunt... then that resturaunt would not have failed.... You can reopen it as Odyssee Pizza.... and then see the crowds going in....

I am happy the improvements are happening now for the parks....

A nice sit-down pizza restaurant, brick-oven style, would be good...not the kind that has been sitting under the heat lamps on a quick-service counter. I would go for that, especially when you are not in the mood for an ethnic food from WS while at Epcot. They could put tables around the outside to eat and watch ROE. :slurp:

About the Odysee building, all it can really be is a restaurant due to its location. (Mexico and Testrack get very close to eachother back stage).

But, the building also can not be a restaurant because of the low traffic and the superior Mexico Pavilian next door. Basically Odysee is a waste of space. But maybe something will be done with it.

If the food court at the Land will be closed for some period while they better incorporate Soarin into the existing structure, could they be prepping Odyssey to be reopened during this time?

Odyssey just needs better signing from the Promonade and Test Track area - was it ever open when Test Track was open? What with TT and :Space now in Futureworld East, all this traffic could easily be accommodated in Odyssey for food. When we went to the Odyssey in 1990 and `93 it was always busy. Unless it is being rehabbed to open again - to take the place of big changes in Innoventions ??

Having been to many events at the Odyssey, I wouldn't call it "unused space" -- perhaps not efficiently used.

Problem is, Epcot isn't really in need of another restaurant (IMHO), it's got lots of good ones. So right now it serves its purpose as a "special events" center.

Now, I just wish the bridges to the Odyssey were updated to today's traffic patterns! (that section from the Odyssey to Test Track can get pretty crowded some days)

It's just too far off the path for people to even realize what was available. It's a case of bad location resulting in a failed restaurant.
It wasn't originally planned for that spot, and they didn't really have a choice in where they eventually put it, unless they were going to cut it out entirely. As they were approaching the construction phase, they discovered a sinkhole and were forced to move the restaurant out of the way.

I'm not sure if there was more sinkhole on the other side of the main walkway, or if they put in the water there in order to be symmetrical.
