Le me set the picture for everyone...
I am going to Disney in August ( 14-21). I am staying at the Polynesian Resort.

-What type of crowds are there around this time of year? ( I have read numerous books and they all say different things, I just want the truth.)

- What is a good iternary?

- What is a good thing to do on the first day? I will be arriving at the resort around 11:00 AM.

- Any restaurants that I should check out?

- And whatever else you would find helpful.

Thanks A Lot!!!!

My best advice would be to do all the high profile attractions early in the morning to try to avoid waiting in long lines. That way, when you're done with all the big ones, you'll have plenty of time to walk around and notice all the little things that make wdw so special. I dont' think crowds will be too bad, but i've never been in august , so i dont' ahve any first hand experience.
Also, if you're staying on disney property, you should take afternoon breaks to recharge yourself for the evenings.

uhhhhh. read all the threads under "WDW Parks General Discussion"... that should answer your questions.

I'm sorry.. but those questions are a little overwhelming for one thread.

I think you'll be going at a good time since a lot colleges and schools start around that time. There will probably still be crowds but not as bad as there are right now. I'm just assuming, but I know that a friend of mine went the week before labor day and he said no one was there. But the crowds shouldn't be unbearable.

A good itinerary, in my opinion, would be to do MK and AK in the morning or late in the day, before and after the heat of the day, since there's a lot of outdoor attractions at both parks. Epcot is better during the heat of the day since the rides/shows are generally longer and there's more to do inside where it's air conditioned. MGM you can do at any time but you should do it at least one time in the morning so you can hit ToT and RnRC early and without a huge wait. Definitely take breaks during the day I'd say somewhere between 1-3 when it's brutally hot and brutally crowded. Maybe head over to DisneyQuest for an afternoon or go Minigolfing or shopping or something not in one of the parks. I also suggest being very flexible because the weather is unpredictable in Florida, especially in the summer.

A good thing to do on your first day, if it's nice out or just hot, go to a water park as soon as you check in. 11 AM is a good time to go since the water parks open around that time and you will beat out the crowds that come from the parks in the early afternoon. It's also a good way to relax before getting into the bustle of the parks.

Depending on your taste of food I'd suggest Restaurant Akershus (Norway), Cape May Cafe (Beach Club), House of Blues (Downtown), Wispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge), Spoodles (Boardwalk), and the Biergarten (Germany) for Lunch and the polka band.

I'd get quality ponchos before you go, because 1. they're generally better than the ones at WDW and 2. they're cheaper. Keep the ponchos with you at all times since the weather is unpredictable, unless you enjoy getting wet. Have a general idea where you want to go each day, but always be flexible. Be prepared to not see everything. Remember it's a vacation not a military operation (though it can be seen as that:lol: ) so you don't want to rush everywhere to do specific things all day long. Be spontaneous and don't overtire yourselves in the heat. Take lots of breaks and always have water with you. See a couple of the parades/firework shows at night and also use that time to go on rides and see things you might have missed. I know it's hypocritical but it's a good time see certain attractions. If you have a car I'd suggest driving to the minor parks since the most of the buses that go there are inconsistent and aren't direct routes. That's really all i can think of plus I have to go back to work. HAVE FUN!
