I feel like these were designed for a long-defunct attraction. Anyone know?

The building was originally used to show Captain EO. I think the color purple was used a lot throughout the building before it ended.

Epcot is FULL of 1980s exit signs. There’s some good ones in the Land and Canada also. Actually almost all of World Showcase has very vintage looking signs.

The Magic Eye theater is honestly one of the most underrated examples of how little Imagineers have had the time to care for that entire pavilion. I mean, signs that have been there since the 80’s STILL BEING THERE can be said to be a “fun little nod to the past” by Disney but it’s definitely more because of cost measures than anything else. Honestly depressing.

Is there an expiration date in working exit signs though? Almost every exit sign in world showcase are the originals, same with the theatre in The Land.

Unless it is buried in a referenced standard I am forgetting, neither Florida Fire Prevention Code NFPA 101 7.10, EPCOT Building Code Section 813 nor Florida Building Code Section 1013 specify a color for Exit signs.

Not to mention, it also being a ginormous 4D theatre that could house a whole bunch of people if they would just open something in there worth going to see.

Are there any grandfather clauses? If Disney change out signs do they have to bring other parts of the building up to modern codes?
