Our next-door neighbor works in Maintenance at WDW. Every time we meet (even while lawn mowing) he has more negative stories regarding the lack of Maintenance Staff and deteriorating park maintenance. Walking down Main Street is tough when you see burned out bulbs on the marquises. day. Would you ever imagine seeing folks doing touch-up painting during the time when guests are about, and posting "Wet Paint" signs? They are so manpower stretched such "nighttime" work during the daytime. He tells us how long the Things-To-Do list is in Maintenance and the guys (and gals) laugh when they see new postings.

Face it, things now are all about money, and not Guest Satisfaction !!!
When you see him again, ask him why the bulbs at GF, Boardwalk, Etc. are all burned out, too.

Listen, WDW maintenance has certainly had its highs and lows over the years and often leaves a lot to be desired. The departments are woefully understaffed and under funded. However, the idea that painting and general maintenance never used to occur around guests is a myth. Painting and other work happening during park hours has been happening since the beginning. We just weren't aware of every instance like we are today.

Dinoland rides like Primeval were pretty much off-the-shelf carnival factory products that, now that they’re fully depreciated, Disney can probably sell on the used-ride market and recoup some of their expenses.

Ummmm...no. Any good theme/amusement park would not purchase a used ride. And the cost to dismantle, transport, and rebuild would be astronomical, and probably far exceed the cost of just buying new.

Selling the ride vehicles? Sure.

Transferring rides between parks is completely normal in the industry. In fact, the model of spinning Wild Mouse coaster that we know as "Primeval Whirl" is *designed* to be dismantled and transported. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the two tracks find their way to a local or smaller regional park in the next year or two... or maybe even end up on one of the big traveling midway shows.

There is a very robust trade in used park rides. You can buy one yourself!

Six Flags even used to swap mid-sized roller coasters around between parks in the chain... The 'ride rotation program', they would leave a ride at a park for a few seasons and then ship it across the country so it could be 'new' for a new market.

There's also some rather famous examples of wooden roller coasters being completely dismantled and reconstructed in other parks. The old "Hurricane" from Boardwalk and Baseball still is running to this day at Magic Springs in Arkansas.

This is your argument, not mine. I was asking for your clarification on how a 50mW power plant is insignificant, and asked for some metrics on how a stage theater damaged the environment, other then you used to see a few squirrels there.

It's not worth engaging with him anymore. Look, it's great that AK looks and feels natural. But in the end, it's not. To create the park, the entire original landscape had to be excavated out. So to say that putting in bleachers "destroyed the environment" is laughable. The area was already cleared away when Disccovery River was landscaped in. Now, if you want to say that that particular area looks "less natural" than it did before, okay. But either way, as a part of AK, it wasn't in its natural state to begin with.

I just hope that in any future changes to Safari that they don't destroy the natural termite mound, baobob tree, lion's outcrop, or crack the ostrich egg!!

Shoot, It'll likely be rebuilt in another area or the track parts will be used to "repair" Space Mountain.
I wouldn't put it past them. Although, a good smelting would also be acceptable!

Can they take the hypnotizing swirling thing off and throw some glow in the dark paint on it and put it at the top of the SM first drop (as the black hole animation)? That'd be sweeeeet... 💩

If that's the case then Disney can just take "Goofy's Sky School" from DCA and put it in Animal Kingdom for an "Indiana Jones Land".

I'll take whatever they have left of "A Bugs Land" as well. That would look great next to the big old tree.
