I had never seen the tokyo version, but last week a ride video popped up in my feed on Youtube- and when I saw that that ride had a TORNADO, I was blown away.

I don't like that that ride focuses around the Crystal Skull (for obvious reasons), but if they brought the effects of the Anaheim ride up to par with the effects in that ride, it'd be amazing.

In its defense, the ride was themed to Crystal Skull in 2001 as an "original" theme. Lucas/Spielberg kind of took the name and ran with it to make the fourth (and terrible) movie.

Sounds to me like a Lucasfilm summer event. All new Star Wars land AND new additions to Indiana Jones Adventure? Throw in a Star Wars firework show and you've got yourself a real crowd.
From the people that brought you Disneyland and Disney IP Adventure... Lucasland. Coming soon.

Other than repairing long dead effects:

Fix or replace the Chamber of Destiny with Tokyo Disneyland's far more detailed equivalent.
Add the Smoke Ring Blower scene from Tokyo Disneyland. It is obviously superior to nothing other than darkness.
Replace the Blow Dart scene with one both physical and far more detailed, similar to Tokyo Disneyland's equivalent. This has always been such a jarring transition in the level of detail and immersion. Did they just run out of money here?

If they could just convert it to the Tokyo version, that'd be great. It's the same ride, but like, way better.

If you ignore some missing effects, scenes, the lack of John Rhys-Davies and the music not being in sync for the whole ride then I might agree.

Indy really needs its general effects to be fixed. The fire behind the giant Mara Skull, the lasers, the snake, the smoke on the bridge, etc. Get those things running smoothly and consistently and then maybe add other things that break after a week.

The spike room pole always works when it’s there. You just have to pull it in the right direction.

Don’t forget to replace the crappy cartoon snake and rat projection too.

The ice machine was obviously the most charming part of the ride. I mean, really? Ice chunks falling from the ceiling? That's ridiculously chintzy. What were they thinking? Bring it back.

My main beef with Indy is that it doesn't come together as an Indy attraction. It has elements of Indy-ness, but just feels like they slapped on the Indy theme to a basically generic adventure ride. Take out the character of Indy, who sounds nothing like him and the arrangement of JW music and the experience could just be called Journey Into the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

Also, the slapped-together portion between the skull room and boulder is just lazy.

The snake is great. It's ridiculously oversized but, according to Tony Baxter, it's to replicate the effect of a close up shot in a movie.

The size makes sense and it’s not my issue with it. It’s the cartoonish design that Doesn’t mesh with the rest of the attraction. It’s also very robotic in its movement. As a major show piece, it should be more impressive. It basically needs a Harold-esque upgrade.
