Please can someone help me work out how old these plushies are?

I recently purchased both a Br’er Rabbit and Br’er Bear bean bag plush, largely for nostalgic reasons as I’d bought Br’er Bear on my first trip to WDW as a kid 30 years ago, but also as they may be a small investment after being discontinued.

I’m trying to work out how old they might be? The thing that really stands out is the yellow eyes, every other I can find online for sale/sold has white eyes and I’m not sure when this changed?

I did consider whether the yellowing was discolouration but it seems to be deliberate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

The 90s. The tags use the Disney World logo that came in to use in 1996. Those tags were used from 1996 to 2002 I want to say so they’re from somewhere between there.

The yellow eyes do appear to be discolouration due to age and direct sun exposure.

So assuming they are from 1996, they are 27/28 years old at most.
Interesting, thank you!

They are being sold on e-bay for a wide range of money. Some starting for $30 and up to over $150. Now lots of things sell on that site and lots dont depending on how much someone is willing to purchase the items you have. So how much of an investment you have in the future is tenable. Disney collectors who want Bre'r items may be willing to lay down the cash. Dis saw a run on the Splash merch when they announced the closure and people knew SotS items would no l9nmger be manufactured for selling. BTW, I have a pair of these myself that were purchased at a yard sale a few years ago.

I was into the Disney MBBP back in the day. Trying to use the Internet Archive to look back at the old websites, but a lot of pages weren't archived. Can't seem to find one that is good with release dates, but I did find a News update from October 1998 of someone getting their order of the Song of the South MBBP from Disneyland. WDW did also sell these, but I haven't seen anything if they got them at the same time or if one resort got them later.

Found another reference that they were out by February 1998. Still looking a few places. Also, maybe July 1997 was the first reporting of MBBP of any type in test stores.

I was poking around the Internet Archive again, looking for something else, and stumbled into a page where someone had tracked UPC and release dates for the MBBP. The Brer Set is listed with a May 1998 release, and indicates multiple versions, which may refer to the difference in eye color. I don't know if when I saw February earlier, if I was actually looking at a post about Feb 1999, or if it was a rumor.
